    converting from analogue to digital

    Hi,
I have an old analogue BT dish and receiver tuned to Eutelsat Hotbird. With not many channels available now, could I use a new digital receiver with my old dish without any modifications?
    Thanks.

You may need a new universal LNB if the one you have is pretty old, but the dish should be fine. You can get an lnb for about 15-20 pounds

It also depends on the size.

Many installs ive seen of late have been 65 cm dishes which are OK for the vertical analogue channels (fine for Italian ) but really cant cut the mustard when receiving the Horizontal channels, low symbol rate/high FEC and especially Wide Band transponders in anything but good weather. Pointing is also important if the dish has moved or become distorted over the years
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

To avoid disappointment get a new dish and LNB at the same time.
You can buy packages and only have to change everything once.
Unless of course you go motorised.

I swapped a Channel Master 60cm dish for the same make's 80 cm
hoping I could use the same brackets. I was proved wrong on that
too but B&Q sell fixing bolts as a set complete with drill.
