NBC-Universal has added two channels to its existing portfolio in Romania.
NBC-U is already transmitting Hallmark, Movies 24 and KidsCo to Romanian viewers, and the AKTA DTH satellite platform (the renamed MAX TV service) is now additionally carrying the Sci-Fi channel and Universal Channel. Universal Channel brings together series and movies drawn from NBC Universal, CBS Paramount, 20th Century Fox and others. Programming will be shown in English with Romanian sub-titles.

Colin McLeod, Managing Director (CEE), NBC Universal Global Networks said: "The launch of Universal Channel and Sci-Fi forms part of a comprehensive growth strategy for Romania, which has long been the most successful CEE country for the Hallmark Channel. Sci-Fi and Universal Channel feature distinctive series and movies which will quickly establish them as firm favourites with Romanian cable and satellite subscribers."
