    Uplink possiblilities

    Halo Friends,

We are all working on downlink Freq and footprints.

    What about uplink?

Can uplink be received?Does it cover normal populated areas?

    Thanks for reading

If you mean signals going up to the satellites, then yes, as long as you're up in space in the general direction of the signal...

For us people without access to NASA's space shuttles, then it's a big no, uplinks are focussed away from the average joe's dish, so receiving them would be very much impossible...

My System: Smart lnb, 1m Gibby dish, Stab motor, TM5200D receiver, 57east to 61west. DTT from Sudbury. Virgin Media broadband.
Uplink frequencies are different to the downlink frequencies so you would also need a different receiver. I think that for Ku band reception the uplinks are in the 14Ghz region. For "C" band it is about 6Ghz.
I do not think that receivers are readily available for those frequencies. You might get a small amount of bleedover if you were close enough to an uplink facility.
