Haven't tried one I'm afraid, but have seen them advertised. I've found with some of the budget entries into the market, that they are made very cheaply and do not perform particularly well.

Update Jan 2008: Did manage to look at one, November time and wasn't impressed with the build quality, particularly the AZEL bracket.

You could have had my channel master dish that I had on Ebay , it's 1m in white and very very solid, it unfortunately sold for £25 though...

The buyer's not contacted me yet so there may be a chance of selling it again...

Anyway, there's a Classified ads section of the forum here for you to place an ad for pretty much anything...

Well I have one guy interested in the stand so it may just be the dish & VSAT feedhorn (no LNB, but a decent C120 LNB's good) on it's own...

Ok, thats fine mate. I'd be mounting it on my pole anyway so don't really need the stand.

    Thanks

It'd need to be a 3 inch pole as it's a hefty dish...

I've got a 2 inch pole but it's clamped in two places so is very sturdy etc and is filled with cement.

Do you reckon it would be stong enough?

Well, the mount would go over the pole, but you wouldn't get it tightened up!!!

Anyway, I've just got a message from the buyer, so it should be gone by the weekend...

What dish do you recommend I have a look for? I don't mind buying used, don't really fancy ripping my pole out so it'd need to fit a 2" pole.

1m, has to be white and be compatible with my Moteck SG2100 motor !

    Thanks

gibertini do a white or rather light grey aluminium dish that will fit a 2 inch pole no problem and they do a polar mount so you can motorise the dish

sizes range from 60cm up to 1.5metre

theres also triax 1.1m, funke 1metre or keep a look out on Ebay for a used channel master i'm sure there was a 1.2m version going on there, then you could fit a jaeger 1224 motor to the dish

Don't really fancy getting a new motor etc as my Moteck is not very old.

I'm running an 80cm, unbranded, white solid atm with a 0.3db lnb which is great for the strong sats but feeds etc off 16east I can't lock onto.

Got a feeling the gain on the dish isn't the best.

I'm pushing my luck with an 80cm tbh as I don't want to upset the other half lol. Was thinking of giving a triax td88 a go.

What are the reviews like on these?

They perform quite well, have used quite a few, shame i haven't had an opportunity to campare it against the Fracarro Penta 85cm yet.

Update on this thread, have now installed a few Fracarro Penta 85cm dishes and they definitely outperform a Triax TD88 and Raven Gemini 90cm dish, have to day installed one to a Moteck SG-2100, this was the steel faced version and it is heavier than the Aluminium version, but still performs very well. A neat compact solution for a motorised dish.

If you can get hold of one, it is worth the extra money to get the Aluminium version.

For the resident pedants, you will have already noticed that the middle K bracket is slightly offset, not intentional, just that it was from a different manufacturer and was reversed. It was also much thinner gauge steel and too thin for heavy dish mounting, I will check the thickness later so that members can check that their suppliers are not using this light weight bracket.

Yes Ross, cracking dish, easily assembled, good solid construction with sensible features like coach bolts for the elevation adjustment, only one hand required for tightening (unlike some other dishes) and the steel bracketry will not cut your hands to pieces like the Raven and Triax.

The LNB holder has adapters for 25mm, 40mm and 60mm units, so should be fine for the new 3 degree monobloc LNBs, all this and good solid performance.

As mentioned above, if you are looking to motorise, go for the aluminium version.

i cant see how that dish is better than a triax 88cm as the dish surface area is less

have you tried one against a 1metre dish to see if the claim is true of it being better than a 1metre dish ?

Believe me it is better than the Triax 88cm wod, it is better made for a start and that will always make a difference, don't know about the 1m comparison, as I haven't got one to compare it with, but I do doubt that it would beat a quality 1m dish.

    Thank you rolfw,

it that it be possible you can take size dish to know how much it size “really” because on another forum somebody say which size is 100 from top to bottom and 90 of width.

    thanks in advance.

Haven't got one in stock to measure at the moment, but will have one by the weekend hopefully, so will measure then. From memory the height is taller than 85cm, I think that is the measurement across the square sides.

PS. Will be installing a 3 degree monobloc on one later in the week as well, so will be able to assess how well it performs with 16E and 13 E on the same dish.
