My System: 'Fortec Star Passion' (& a dead SL65) One of them big Woks on the outside, and a thingy that moves it about a bit.

Maximum length of cable run to dish?

I have been having problems with my dish not moving to commands from the box.

I was gonna buy a new motor but tried taking it down and connecting it to the receiver with a 1 metre cable.

The dish now moves when asked, although I have not been able to judge
if its going to the right place (cos its in the house)

Could my problems be voltage drop in the cable?

    Is there a maximum length?

The receiver is in the north west corner of the house.
the dish is under the eves of the south east corner.

I am sure people must have longer runs for roof mounting their dish?

Cable quality is an issue. Good and you should get up to about 70M

Does the motor fail to work on both horizotal and vertical polarities?

    What cable are you using?

The DC resistance and attenuation at 22kHz of fairly decent satelite cable are very low.

    The cable is RG 69

    Polarisation?

Running it in situ again, motor would drive from remote after receiver was set to factory default and start from scratch. Also would drive from motor buttons.
But then it stopped working from motor buttons, motor buttons only nudged the motor.

    RG 69 ?

Never heard of it, comes up as waveguide on google

Polarisation, in Europe, most transponders send transmissions that are either horizontal or vertically polarised. A different supply voltage is fed to the LNB to switch between the two. A lower voltage for vertical and a slightly higher volatge for horizontal.

My System: Smart lnb, 1m Gibby dish, Stab motor, TM5200D receiver, 57east to 61west. DTT from Sudbury. Virgin Media broadband.
Could be RG59, 75ohm, aluminium foil screen. I use it for DTT TV use.
    Cr*plins sell it, see

Well, if it IS RG 59, it is not suitable for satellite TV use anyway, its high frequency losses are too great. NOt sure about the DC resistance or loss for 22kHz, but it is worth changing it anyway for wf100 or similar.
