My System: No Current set up

    360 degree turning circle

this is my second post on the subject of setting up my new dish with disecq motor.

i am installing my dish on a t and k bracket with a long pole (to see over the building opposite).

i have a question though. most satellites you see on domestic premises are bskyb intalls with a fixed dish attached to a wall. even people who have larger dishes have them fixed to the wall. what i want to know is this; do people who have motorized dish's need the dish to be able to rotate 360 degrees, i.e. without turning and smacking into the wall??

even if there isnt anythng that can be picked up in these positions (i dont have a clue, im a newbi), you could surely, quite easily select a satellite in a position where the dish cannot turn to.

    confused

My System: Sky UK. FTA analogue & digital satellite from 6 fixed dishes (5E/9E/10E/13E/16E/ 19E/23E/28E) Pace MSS100, Echostar IP3000VA, Technomate TM-1000D, Dreambox 7020S, GDS 7000HD

The broadcast satellites lie on an inverted arc with its apex at due south and curving down towards south east & south west. There is nothing located out to the north

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs

The arc is only visable over a 120 degree section from approx 60 East to 60 West in the UK therefore more than that is pointless. Polar mounts restrict mechanically the movement to specific limits usually less than 120Deg. H-H mounts do this with either electrical reed switch stops or software stops

If your system was set up correctly this should not happen

My System: 75e-75w C & KU, 36v h-h /36v & diseqc actuators / diseqc -USALS motors / Anlg to HD Channel Masters C120s dishes, stb's inc echo3000, lnbs, meters, custom polar mounts & elevation/incline actuator conversions...
No.. the absolute max is about 75e to 75w and that's not really possible in almost 99.9% of installs. Most try for 45e to 45w (90%) and some get a bit further... Sky is at 28e so you want to look 28 degrees to the west (right) to your middle (south) then it's 45 degrees either way..

    My System: TM6800HD, TM1000, TM600 Linux,TM5200, TM2200 motor, Triax TD110 dish + Fortec 85cm. Meter=Satlook Micro+G2 NIT
Just to add, DiSEqC motors are H-H, i.e Horizon to Horizon. Which means that at the end stops the dish will be pointing at or very nearly to the ground.
