Hi folks I've found someone that's selling this dish not far away from me, anyone knows what make is it? it says SEMAC but I've never heard of it. TIA!![]()
Could be ex Turkish naval encrypted coms gear... looks very well made.... check the frequency on the lnb etc..
Coincidentally, scrolling down this forum section I found a link to this Ebayseller, he seems to be selling a dish slightly similar:
Ebay320314514800
otherwise, the lnb on the unknown brand fibre dish is a pretty old one, and the fitting for it seems to have been DIYed. What should I check for? Why?
if it's been modified it won't be the original - the original would have given clues to it's use but also to the spec it's been made for... f/d ratio focal length etc.. and possibly the optimum frequency of the reflector material in the fibreglass.
rightey, I (sorta) get it. You mean the actual lnb should specify the reflector material frequency? didn't realise that. I'm not particularly interested in this dish, but the seller also has a nice fibostöp and he only wants to sell the two of them unfortunatly![]()
the size of the dish & the fact he's used it for dth probably means it's OK* ... the build quality looks very good indeed - depends on the price too...
*ask him what sort of results he got on given known weak sats etc..
He's not very friendly, unfortunatly I can't ask him anything else. I'd be keen on getting the fibostop but I have to get this one as well, problem is I have nowhere to put it, and I don't know how to sell it to anyone...
since we speak about the lnb and the holder, here's some more pictures of it
What size Fibo has he got? The other dish looks good, the polar mount looks nice and strong![]()
90cm one, I'm still yet to find a second hand 120cm oneDo you think it's a good dish Crossbones?
It does look good, but you may have a problem fitting an lnb to the feed.
I think they are manufactured in Poland

Thanks for the info mate, I'm not sure they're the same though. They don't look like it.
Crossbones, you're probably right![]()
the LNB on it is from a very good LNB maker "California Amplifier" ,i never seen a wideband version on those LNBs,i bet it works very good too for DX stuff
you mean for feedhunting?
You'd soon mod an LNB holder ... the .8db/.9db wideband KU LNB's worth a play but you'd probably beat it with a £5 LNBf.

So you think this oldish looking lnb might perform better than the newer C120s like inverto, etc? Does it have a polariser (is that what one can see on the last couple pics)? I notice the neck of it looks square. Will it mount on a C120 round feedhorn? Sorry for the dumb questions![]()
those LNBs have WR75 connection and not C120 you would need a polariser (mecanic better) in the same time it will do a convertion from WR75 to C120 (feedhorn or depolarizer)

I don't necessarily understand all the bits and pieces but I can at least tell that you're talking about hardcore DX stuff, yes
