    Dark Motor & my TD110

    Hi friends

With reference to my previous thread :-
    http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/dish-setup-single-sat-multi-sat-motorised-systems/154758-1-1m-dish-aluminium.html

Im still undecided as to which way to go ..
My motor _has_to be replaced .. but unsure about my dish
I was going to go with the SG2100a and possibly replace my TD110 dish with a lighter version
Looks like the TDA110 isn't available in the UK ..so would have to reduce in size and change brand to get a lightweight aluminium dish

During my searches I came accross the this motor :-

Superior DARK MOTOR - All Metal

Drive Dish Up 1.4 Meters at Very High Speed

    Superior DarkMotor New*

    1.Metal Gear

    2.Metal Box Gear

    3.Backlash Atomatic

    Protocol : DiSEqC 1.2 & Goto “X” 1.3
Compatible Receiver : Receiver with DiSEqC 1.2 or Interface Box
Antenna Size : 120 cm Max.
    Speed : 1.9 / sec (at 13V) ; 2.5 / sec (at 18V)
    Azimuth Angle : 80 East ~ 80 West ( 160° )
    Elevation Angle : 25~75
    Input Voltage : 13 / 18Vdc
    Output Voltage : 13 / 18Vdc
Power Consumption : 50 mA (Standby)
    200mA (Normal)
    350mA (Max.)
    Satellite Positions : 60 positions

...as a result of reading the spec ..I'm now wondering if I can keep my TD110 as this motor 'might' be more supportive of a heavier dish.

Are any members using this motor ...and have anything good or bad to report about it..

Does it have the edge on the SG2100a ?

I'm keen to get as much info as possible before parting with any money.

    My System: Zone1, Thomson SkyHD, Dreambox DM800 HD PVR - Nab BH0.12, TM5200, FR Penta85, Gibertini 104cm, SNH-031, 36v Actuator, Vbox-II, 42°E - 22°W, Sling Media. Meters: Televes H45 Digital Processing MPEG4 Analyser, Emitor Satlook Micro+G2 NIT, TDA-6
Found there a bit noisier than the Moteck motor.

    Thanks for that Satelliteman....
Do you know if they are better suited to driving a heavier dish ?

The spec for the Dark motor does appear to contadict itself ..
At the top saying drives a 1.4 mtre dish ..
and further down specifying a max 1.2 dish..
I was also somewhat mystified as to what was mean't by 'backlash automatic '.

I can't give you an accurate answer here as I've only fitted three dark motors against some 50+ Motecks. Maybe that will give you your answer, I don't know. All I can say is I certainly wouldn't mount anything over 110cm on a DiSEqC motor

Also see the TM2300 DiSEqC motor.

My System: Vu+ Duo PVR 1GB HDD Channel Master 1.2m with Jaeger SMR1224.
Is the Dark motor very noisy?
