Is a dish just a dish?

    Hi

I am looking to buy a new dish about 90 cm and having seen that there are a great deal on offer at different prices what i would like to know is, is there a difference in the performance from one dish to the next? Or is a dish just a dish?

    thanks

Dishes vary on performance and on features

Mesh is normally less effective as solid, but is easier to camouflage

Fittings could be wallmount only, post mount, or with option of motor drive

Make sure you buy one that has what you need (if you are upgrading for motorised later you might want one that can fit a polarmount )

I see this information spread around all over the place but I fail to see why it should be true per se. If the mesh holes are less than 1/2 a wavelength then they are effectively a reflector as if the dish were solid.

Where on eath did you get the info of 1/2 a wavelength ?

Whoever wrote that needs to be strained through one of their dishes

    My System: 1m dish - jaeger 1224 motor, vantage x221tsci, skystar 2, diablo v2.3, cyfra+
isn't it also the type of material used in dishes as how come some are steel or aluminum and channel master dishes are like some type of plastic ?

also i read that some 80cm dish could outperform even a 1metre dish for signal gain was in a magazine or is that some bs ?
