sorry to mhku!!
Do i need to change the Attributes of the init file? I note on creation that it is 644 but the original init file is 755, i tried to change the attributes in properties but this still does not seem to work on reboot.....A B C guide for me? I did not understand the chinese reply, the english translation was not good.......Wo Ting Bu Dong...?

If you enable vcard in your profile other members can send you email - this may help if you need to speak not in English.
I haven't tested the init file/ MAC address solutions but it should be 755 permissions.

i do everything but i can't write the flash
i want to ask about pin 18 to 25 i must pout a wire form 18 to 25 pin you say here and second i didn't put power on dream 500 . must put and the power after i connect the parallel cable ?
check if you have this in your PC>
and need to make lot of try to connect...
in some board i try 2-3 times and some other 20-30times to connect.[/quote]
On LPT connector you short connect pins 18 to 25, and there goes wire for ground.
when you click connect on program simultaniously put the power to box.

Dear mates ,
This is a guide that we create after a successful recover of a dead dm500s . It contains photos and automated scripts .

bro (20-05-2008)
Thanks all,
I have Question. Is there any way to connect the cable to Dreambox500 without doing solder the cable to the dreambox500 board. I creat the cable with LPT connector but my question for the other end. Imagine I have 100 of dreambox, It will take alot of time to connect them.
Any answer please?
Thanks
Thank you very much for the usefull information in this thread.
Just made a jtag cable as described connected at first time and uploaded the boot image found linked in this thread, all seems ok.
FYI. I did not know that i had a clone, checked all the information from dream multimedia to detect it and seemed genuine. Howerver i noticed one little difference after it died. there is a yellow chip onboard the mcb that is black on the original, thats the only difference i have found.
Hello ,
The only that came up about is to create a jtag with a flat cable connector at the other end ( from a old pc or electronics parts store ) .
Then add the jumper pins into connector holes where they are needed. Now you have to attach it on pcb . You need only a trick to hold the connector stable . A metal plate or clip you will find out .
I hope that helps .

Hello ,
Concerning the time bomb , it trace the hardware via MAC address .
Even if you have an original box with modified MAC , your DMbox is killed
too .
The reason that we create this friendly ( i hope ) guide is to reverse back
this action which destroy our dmboxes no matter what , in purpose .
Target reached i believe !!!
Regards
John

thanks john, will try that, what also confused me that in some guides theres a resistor and wire connected to pin 13 instead of 11
11 --> 100 ohms --> 1 ( Tdo )
thanks mate i now have the dreambox back up and running
i also used the aio files you posted![]()
I successfully connected and brought my DM500 back to life following all the steps highlighted in the forum using one of the blimg file with a good MAC address. I now have power and the boox turn on fine. Thank you all.
I still have one problem I can't resolve however, and that is the fact that I can't connect via the netwrok to the box. My Control Center software fails to see the box on the network or connect to the box although the LAN light is green on my router. Is there a fix for this? if someone can point me to where the steps are to correct this it would very appreciated.
Any one able to help on the LAN connection for my dreambox above?
