    Exclamation Dreambox 500 - JTAG Information

    In case this got missed within the other thread, here are a bootloader and JTAG diagrams that you may find useful if you have a clone and Gemini 4.31.

    You can download a bootloader here:

    _http://rapidshare.com/files/87512303/dreamboxbootloader.rar.html

    PCB pins:

    Signal Pin Pin Signal

    TDO 1 2 N/C
    TDI 3 4 TRST
    N/C 5 6 VCCS
    TCK 7 8 N/C
    TMS 9 10 N/C
    HALT 11 12 N/C
    N/C 13 14 ***
    N/C 15 16 GND
    db25 . . decoder

    The cable (DB25 = printer port connector):

    DB25 > resistor > PCB pin

    2 --> 100 ohms --> 11 ( Halt)
    3 --> 100 ohms --> 9 ( Tms )
    4 --> 100 ohms --> 7 ( Tck )
    5 --> 100 ohms --> 3 ( Tdi )
    11 --> 100 ohms --> 1 ( Tdo )
    25 ------------------ 16 ( Ground)

    You may also be able to use a CAS2 or CAS3 to jtag it. Use at your own risk.

    I haven't tested it and you should contact your seller to obtain a refund if possible.

    Updated 21.04.08:

    These files have been tested by philip633

    let us know if you managed to do it. I think it would be great help if you would make some pictures of the insides etc and post it. It's an interesting subject not just for clones or 500's.

    An article showing how to make a JTAG cable (not a Dreambox one but the principle is similar):

    Got good & bad news for people who lost their DM500 on the killing day (04/16/08).

    The good news is you can fix your DM500 So, Gemini == YOU LOSE

    The bad news is it has nothing to do with the JTAG & stuff. Got mine fixed by IT guy. He opened it, take out a chip, flashed it with a big stuff connected to a computer. Costs me about 30 box, but it's fixed.

    I'm running Gemini 3.2 while searching for a reliable image working fine with a clone DM.

    We survived

    The man removed flash, placed it on the programmator - flash it with dump file. Done.
    Mostly people dont have that kind of adapter for that flash!!!
    I'll try tomorow morning to JTAG some boxes.

    If you can post a pic of a DM500 cloned open, I can show you the chip in question.

    About the programmer, it was a huge thing, bigger than the DM500, he put above it in a slot a kind of chip holder where he slides the one remover from the box. He uses a computer to flash it, after 10mn, it's done! He put it back.

    Et voila! DM lights up, it raises from death

    ok nice, can you ask your friend what sort of programmer it is? and how we actually get the chip off the board, you cannot just pick it up surely.

    Your friend probably has one of these all in 1 programmers, if we could find one what did the job for something like this, we may find one for £30-50 of we look in the right places

    He's not my friend he's an IT technician who fixes satellites.
    I gave him the DM & forced the entrance to his atelier. He wasn't happy to see me sticking my nose on his stuff & asking what's this & what's that

    I was looking for any clue to help others find a solution to revive their DMs.

    well at least it's something i guess, you say this guy charges 30? plus the postage and packaging to get it there/back, it's gonna come to about £45 just to fix it, now i do wish i had all these sort's of programmers lol. I could of raked it in but nevermind.

    You may have to see him when he's in a good mood to see what type of programmer it is

    XP SP2 PC used
    ECP+EPP printer port setup + never use interrupt
    DB25 male printer connector
    6 wieres + 5 resistors of 100 ohms
    ON printer connector short connect pin 18 to 25 and connect the last wire.
    rest of the wieres connect the resistors and use the schematics placed on the RDI.
    When You hit the connect simultaniously place the power to dream.
    That should do it!
