Can europe force SKY off ASTRA 2D

I have noticed on LYNGSAT that Sky occupies at least 5 frequencies on ASTRA 2D and that i believe that they should come under FREESAT's control.

With these frequencies, FREESAT could place independent HD channels using the RED DOT system that ITV use's.

I am sure other members will want their say in this.

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. A Foxsat HDR which moves with me between the UK and France. Main TV: UK Philips 42PFL9632; France 47PFL9632 My lovely little lappy, Toshiba Satellite Pro L20
It would be nice but I doubt that it will happen soon.

$ly has contracts with Astra and it is most certainly NOT in their interest to voluntarily relinquish these 2D transponders. There's nothing to gain for them and they would strengthen the hand of a competitor in one go!

I belive the plan was for those transponders to be moved over to 2C
as she was only using 5% capacity when she was live
The need to move her to 31.5e however throws all that out the window for a year

It's rumoured that the freed 3A might be moved to 28.2 when 3B launches because of the Extreme spot beam

That would be helpful, let's hope that if it is moved over then FREESAT will get first choice for the transponders !!

I have noticed that on LYNGSAT,s satellite footprint section that 3A appears to have a slightly larger spot beam than 2D!!
