    American TV

    hello to all
i wanted to start a new thread and it didn't work.
this may be the proper place to ask this
well been looking to have a high speed stream from the USA.
    this stream must run 24/7
i found someone in the UK who wants to charge 1600 pounds a year.
he is probably a middle man , so some in California is streaming like
ESPN and HBO or show time or anything one wants for 1600 pounds a year.
at present its $2500 a year. they say it has been running for 2 years now and had just a 1 hour outage.
he gave me the ESPN feed at 500 k down load and it looks great
they send it out at 2 megs per second at mpeg 4.

sling box is not enough quality.
not unless some makes a high quality sling catcher or something better
    any information out there
    thanks
    Ralph

Those two statements are incompatible - a slingbox is hobbled by the broadband connection at both ends and the quality of the input - one with fast bb connections at BOTH ends will easily run at over 500k. But you need decent input as well - a slingboxed HD feed will look far better than the same SD feed on the same box..

    2500 ,sounds very expensive,for espn

look for an art subsribsion card,in arabic countrys, since espn has left orbit, its now part of the art package, card subsribsion a year coasts around 400€
and signal in neapels,i checked 2 years ago, after visiting friends,is on nilesat in your area very strong,70 up to 90 cm should be enough, for the weaker H Transponders of nilesat!

for 2500 $ you can fly to usa, stay tehre,in a cheap apartment, and can watch espn also
dont pay this high price, for only one channel!

ESPN Classic Sport channel is on the Cyfrowy Polsat package Hot Bird 13E, but you probably need a different ESPN.

    parkmy tv

    hi to all,
got a hold of park my tv and they are expensive.
they are looking for HBO at $300 per month.not per year.
    little bit expensave for anyone.
north american sports network becomes espn sports 4 feb 2009.
so the channel will switch over automaticly.
well at $3600 per year is a bit expensive.
    thanks

There are three HBO channels from Cyfrowy Polsat on Hot Bird 13E (and one HD).
They probably don't broadcast the latest HBO films, but you can try to check their programming titles from their website.

    sling hosting usa to europe

well we did a test with a sling host.and here is the info.
internet tested at 3.7 m/s download and 250k up load.
after downloading the softwere we did the test.970k and it was runing.
then we tried a faster speed.the hosting provider was able to update my computer on his end and we went to 1.4 meg/s maxed out.
the picture ran but would freeze up for a second then jump ahead2 seconds.
this would happen every 5 min or so.
nancy drew and transformers were on last week.
i recorded the shows for about 12 hours on tape.
    next comes the cost.
$99 per month just streaming service and $45 for basic plus hbo, showtime package.
    about $145 per month.
there is a fine if you take this for less than 2 years.

if sling upgrades to H264 or mpeg4-10 and we had a stedy stream it would have been good.
next i will be looking at digizon box.
its new on the market,it is h264 and i will be testing it soon.
the h264 should have a better picture at 40% less band with.
so 1.4 mb/s should be better.
    will let you know

if it is dubbed we will stay away from this
i have a orbit system as well it has subtitles as well.
i think they should do the following.
2 sets of audio tracks and one can pick original or their language
and closed captioned subtitles that one can turn off the option.
the Sky italia one can switch audio on all the movies and gen entertainment.
i will probally sell the orbit receiver soon.

The Polish HBO has two sound track options: Polish and Original language.

My System: AFN decoder info PowerVu models/types/methods
Ralph; I am new to this website and came across it when doing a search for AFN decoder info. I am an authroized user but unlike where we can buy decoders at AAFES, in Asia we have to rent them. Even though they cut the rental fees in half, they charge so much that we can buy one every two years! Anyway, I have a bunch of questions for you, especially in the repair of burnt out power supplies. Now, How do I email you and how do I know when you get this message and reply to it? I can't seem to find the PM function. Maybe you can PM me and we will go from there.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Ralph;

I need to get someone to go to the NEX/PB/BX and buy me a couple of new decoders; that is the answer. They can MPS them to me for free, even from Europe to Asia. I'm not spun up on C-band sats; 10 years ago I set up a few c band dishes but now with ku availability, there is no interest--especially with the typhoons. In Japan, the sat company is sky-perfect TV. It was two companies that merged ( Sky & perfect). Interesting that the LNB's for this system is unique; one system uses pulses, then other is like a typical satellite thus you need a special lnb to work on all channels.

Sorry I don't have more info on HBO over here; I need to ask some of my friends and see if they know.

    Take care,

    TJ

Hbo america repeats everything many times. If it is a specific program series then using a p2p to get just those programs is free. I just got the whole 16 week series of True blood (4 dvds) from a p2p program. If you want to watch older movies that have been on dvd ppv and p2p for many months then you are wasting your money. As far as ESPN goes, most of the daily programming is repeated news and they offer a few hours of daily live programming based on seasonal sports. Today it is Major league Baseball. I am sure a friend or member could set up a way for you to get those specific programs for a small fee. hint hint
