    problems with a Magic Module

    hello,

    situation is:

ive bought Magic Module about 9 months ago
On the back of module is written
    P/N : 8106/2003
    v 1.05

i remember long time ago i have put this module into my dreambox 7000s.
Common interface menu said Penta 1.1
but i didnt use it till now anymore.

when i try to put know CI says DREAMLOAD. WHY??????

ive got CAS2 as well. So, ive tryed to flash it.
connected CAS2 to my laptop, run cas studio 6.1,
    pressed "connect"
    ive got :
    CAM connected
Xilink XC9536XL CPLD Version 3 detected
    Functionality not warranted
    Flash unknown : Manufacturer ID : 0x0090 ID : 0x0000
    Detecting CAM

    Pressed Erase All
and i have "Erasing Error on Block 0,1,2,3...............34.
    Erase compleated.
i extracted my Penta 1.11 rar file
ive got penta1.11.mbf (or something....), changed to .bin(just changed 3 last letters)
After that i started to write Penta 1.11
After mesagge "flashing compleated" just pressed EXIT.(once i tryed write Xilink, but the same problem anyway)

i put Magic Module into the Dreambox....and have DREAMLOAD.
    ive tryed 3 or 4 times....same problem.

    any idea???

    thank you very much

If you power off a magic cam more than 3 times with no card inserted then the card enters dreamload mode and sits awaiting programming.

If it is in dreamload it is already erased hence the error message

If you take a Microsoft document file anything.dot and change the file extension to anything.xls it doesn't suddenly become a spreadsheet. The very least you would have to do to convert a file from one format to another is run a program to convert the file to a different format.

    Ok

As I explained I do not have a Cas interface I use a magic module rs232 programming card like the one shown.
I suggest you use the dedicated web site to find out how to do successfully program your module using CAS interface by clicking here This takes you direct to the correct English section of casinterface.nl where step by step details are given. Good luck

    for future reference :o)

i know it's an old post but here goes

the cas2 software will accept both .bin and mbf
without the need to change .mbf to .bin

you need to load dreamload.bin first
when complete, change the start address to 10000
    then load the penta file.

or look for penta 1.09 or 1.11 full dump
which is dreamload + penta file all in one.

when complete, put cam into receiver,
if you see DREAMLOAD, switch receiver off then on http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/...ons/icon14.gif
and it should show pent1.09 or whatever is on cam.
    regards
