How to get FTA Channels in Uganda

Hi guyz, I live in Uganda (East Africa) and a newbie with these SAT things-though not completely scatterbrained. I have a Digital Astrovox VSR iR-400 receiver (with Smart Card). My C Band Dish is about 4 feet in diameter; I have a few ?ns.

    1. After looking at INTELSAT’s (more than 10) foot prints on coverage maps on h**p://3w.tracksat.com/, and doing a search on the available Free-To-Air channels, I am wondering how I can get the settings for channels available in Uganda. My Receiver lists about 90 sattelites.

    2. On Pas7_10 (__°) East, am able to get only Asian channels, how can I get English ones? A friend gave me settings for channels he has seen work somewhere else, but my receiver did not pick these channels like Arirang, CCTV, E!, Dayster, CBN
    DD…

    3. Does some one know the future of MBC2 in Sub-Sahara?

Thx in advance will be checking for the answers.

My System: IDD CI24 ECONO MM Penta 1.20 Galaxy II 1.2Mtr Polar MTG yes it has been on the arc for 21 years and is still driven by a modified wiper motor from a Ford Anglia. It's like me sometimes groans but always performs

It may list them but will contain completely out of date transponder information. If your stb has a blind scan facility then move the dish to another satellite and do a blind scan and repeat for each satellite you can receive. If your stb has not a blind scan facility then the only way is to get details from Lyngsat for each satellite on your arc whose footprint beams into Africa. I doubt there will be much though and even less in English.

Thx Topper 4 the reply, will check and back feed immediatly. However as you realise from above I still hav many questions. Maybe we take each at a time.

How do I translate a satellite's degrees and other settings on footprint maps into dish angle for locating a particular satellite's position?

    Well

You need to start from scratch and research all the information on the forum regarding what is available in the skies above you. If you are in Uganda your Longitude is approx 32 deg East. Thus you will have a theoretical arc of satellites from approx 18 deg West to 82 deg East.
You need to check on lyngsat for each satellite on that curve

When you select a satellite, you then go across to the beam section and click the link to see the footprint for that beam

Alternatively choose what you want by clicking here and selecting your desired country
