There's a fire sale going on now, so I expect RUK will go with them. Where, who knows. It'll need a provider if it emerges as a stand-alone channel.

So, are there now about a million ice scrapers out there now?

I have to say, it really does whiff of the ITV Digital fiasco from all them years ago, buying the rights to things they couldn't actually pay for...

All Setanta channels are still on air at the moment as far as I can tell. Presumably they will stay on air for as long as possible. ESPN might pick up a couple of them for whatever new plans they have for the football next season.

ESPN have confirmed that they will have an HD service for at least some of their Prem games:

As soon as ESPN America is in another package than Setanta, I'll cancel my subscription... the only reason I bought the Setanta package, was ESPN America and UFC.

so is everyone happy now that setanta has gone bust as there was a lot of it on another forum which is full of sly fanboys

something that did make me laugh was that racing uk going alone and to charge 20 a month for the channel

so apart from overbidding on rights what else caused setanta downfall, is there really a market for two sports broadcasters in the uk ?

or has bskyb got too much of a hold on the pay tv market, as there is no one to compete with them.

i think setanta could have survived if they had left epl football alone as they had a good lot of sports on the channels they had recently added ipl cricket, had all the european football except serie a rights, spanish already tied up with Sky. started to show some nba games, ufc was covered well and gaining an audience .

now lets see what espn do as we know they have the resources and experience of broadcasting all over the world.

ESPN are no Setanta. They are powerful and this is the perfect opportunity to put a foothold in the UK, especially with the monday night football
