    TV Pranks?

    Hi there,

I am on the lookout for a cheap universal remote that will turn over TVs in pubs and things.

Most of the ones I have bought come with fiddly codes.

I would like to be able to change the channel to something different, turn the sound up or even turn the TV off.

Most pubs have Sky on their TVs, I think the Sky receiver is hidden somewhere but it would be cool to change the volume or something. Could even go to a department store and change the stations on the TVs they have for sale.

What do you think, Any ideas or tips?

I have heard of Telly Terminate to turn the TV into standby mode but would like something that can do more without the fiddly settings and codes.

    Would appreciate the help!

Ask your friendly publican to put some Dutch courage on the pump, then you can turn over the TV without fear of being found out.
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Hey, wasn't there remotes built into watches on sale, thought I'd seen them?

    That would be discreet also.

My recommendation......don't bother unless you wish to end up in a back ally with your kneecaps in your top pocket....

I seem to remember mention of a remote programmed with every known 'Off' code......or maybe just wishful thinking

Yes, there was a small device with most of the common off codes programmed in, think there is a thread on the forum somewhere in the depths.

Having said that, if you don't like TVs in pubs, then got to pubs where they don't have them and as Topper says, use of such devices could be harmful to your health.
