    Hello

    Welcome to the forum Gaz225

From your post I assume that you are looking at an alternative system. There are many budget systems around, it really depends on what you expect out of a system and how much money and time you have available. Just be aware that unless you go for a system such as a technomate 1000 or 1500 that has lots of unofficial support you may well be disappointed. There is not a lot open at the moment using cams on some satellites yet on others there is quite a bit hence I would go for a motorised system as opposed to a fixed system which will give you flexibility

My System: Various digiboxes, broken Nokia 9800S, numerous analogue boxes. A Foxsat HDR which moves with me between the UK and France. Main TV: UK Philips 42PFL9632; France 47PFL9632 My lovely little lappy, Toshiba Satellite Pro L20
It's not really the right section to be asking questions but a quick answer is that CAM stands for Conditional Access Module. It's the bit you stick the viewing card into and can be either a separate item (looks a bit like a PC Card from a laptop) or built in (like on all Digiboxes).
