    Channel master 1.8M Dish

At last I have installed it!

The pole is concreted three foot into the ground. I have also filled the pole with concrete. I have added 18" T&K`s for extra support.

I have a few fine adjustments to make to the mount as it is pulling in most of 7w H`s.

I have given it a scrub, but will do a better job when i have more time.

nice one, the neighbours don't mind then

how far east and west can you go to ?

did you lift it up yourself on the mount as bet they are quite heavy

I did get a comment from one side, saying "thats big!"

It is quite high up though. I have not gone beyond 30w, as the jack is not strong enough, as it struggles to bring the dish back.

I think ill have to invest in a heavy duty actuator.

It took me and my gym buddie my eldest son, and two of his mates to raise it up. It weighs a ton!

    What a beautiful dish

I am surprised that you get Eurobird 2 at all.

Further on i am curious if you get anything of 42E East Beam, 39E S2 Beam and 7W Atlantic Bird 4.

Could you please write down the received frequencies ?

    Well thats it, any regrets?

Asked somewhere else over the positioning of the feedhorn, mine is fitted so none of the rings are showing, RD100 says one ring should be exposed.
    Any views?

    Thanks.

Yes I am sorry that I sold it. But got a good price for it so that made it a little easier

I tried it in various positions but the position in the pics above gave the best results.

Rd100 also tested an lnbf with better results than the matched feed.

Have you given that a go?

That's what we've found.... use longer neck lnbfs or expect to extend most lnbf's focal point in about 10mm ish' to match the longer wave guide/ feed horn on the c120 + feed horn to get the most out of an lnbf.

So Pedro are you saying feedhorns plus are a waste of money?

    Which normal LNB was best?

Must get my second CM 1.2m outside to test.

    hi

hope you dont mind my chipping in here -
    as a c.m. 1.8 owner i,v been following this thread --
out of curiosity -- a couple of months back i tried 2 lnb,fs on the dish instead of the matched feed -- which has an Inverto twin - C-120 on it

i din,t do extensive tests -- just the one transponder on nilesat
11862 V 27500 - city 7 tv --which here in the north west of england is a weak to medium strength transponder , depending on weather

    i used a darkgold 0.1
    and a Sharp white case -BS1R6EL 0.3

the sharp was 1 % less signal than the matched feed
the dark gold was equal to the matched feed .

i also have a 1.00 metre channel master -- i,v tried 4 - different l.nbf,s on that dish , and all have slightly out performed the inverto/ matched feed

i think its a case of - modern lnbf,s-- have improved a great deal in the last couple of years .

i hope this info is usefull to you

    regards nelson_ b

Thats very interesting. Maybe there should be a sub forum devoted the CM's, feedhorns and the rest.

If the weather is OK tomorrow. I'll be out testing my second CM 1.2m.

    Will keep you posted.
