    Zenega CD1004iS Boot problem

    Hello all,

I am Dish TV user, using "Zenega CD1004iS". Past few days I am having trouble with booting this setup box. It starts with very dim and fast blinking orange light, slows down after sometime and and finally ends up with proper green light. This complete process takes about 5-10 minutes, which is quite frustrating. I consulted the experts and they advised me to re-install the software/firmware.
Can anyone help me with it? Is it possible doing it at home and how can we do it step by step.
Thank you for all those willing to help me.
    -Hsarp

    Dear sir,
I hope i was in U A E to help you with this problem,
This problem has nothing got to with software or whatever the dish tv guys arre telling you to do.But this problem is with the SMPS (switch mode power supply).which is inside the receiver ,U should immediately change the power supply board. Now it is only blinking dimly and stabilising after 10 to 15 minutes, gradually it will deteriorate to hours and ultimately it will completely go dead.So please change the power supply or send the box to me .I will repair it and give it to you.iam in bangalore nomail@nomail.com

yes i have opened the stb, there is one capacitor which is bulging , but it is 10v 1000uF 105 degree C, V9A

    as instructed by you i got a capacitor 25v 1000uF SA + 85 degree C, V9

    will this work ??? or should i get a 10v one ????

    Dear sir,
its nothing but the capacitors they have used is under valued i.e instead of 16v or 25v they have used 10 v .using 25v caps will solve the problem permanently.

and why it happens is , mostly coz of an overload of power, when thers disruption in power supply or voltage fluctuations

There are 2 capacitors of 1000uf/10v. Both may not e faulty but just in case change them both to 16v or 25v.
You can open the decoder and easily unplug the power supply board and take it to a local electrician.

Thanks to all for the valuable information here.. saved me some bucks and the time....
