Best LNB for fringe reception ?

I want to improve my reception of UK Freesat programmes (BBC/ITV) outside Munich, Germany.

What LNB or LNB/dish (1.2) combination can you recommend for best reception in this area for Astra 28.2. Invacom TWH-031 has been suggested.

    Many thanks in advance

My System: 2.4mtr Channel Master Dish, Fracarro Penta 85cm Dish, 64cm Traix Dish with 4 multi LNB'S Sky HD, Dreambox 800, Dreambox 500, IPBOX 250, Sky HD and a mad wife !
If you're dish is a 120 channel master/andrews then you should be using a c120 and feedhorn.

If not a channel master dish then try the sharp lnbf or the titanium.

I have tested both here and gave better performance than the invacom.

    Hi
I have tried many types of LNB.
    3 different sharp White
    forect star 0.6
    invacom single
    inverto + feedhorn
    Best - 0.1
    metronic
    smart x 3
and a few other unbranded ones.

Sharp lnbs win all the time.(tested on nilesat 7W and 26E + 4W)
I have tested 3 different sharp lnbs and one performs about 3% better than the others i bought.

    @ hopeless:

something must be wrong with your setup.

I used to live (2001-2005) south of Munich, on the Starnberger See. I received perfectly BBC channels (2D) on a 85cm dish with a MTI lnb.

If you have problems with a 1.2m dish, something is wrong.

Hi Charly, I agree with you that something must be wrong and it all started around March this year. Until then I used to receive BBC channnels without much problem using a 1m dish. Then it seems the BBC "reorganised their satellite platforms" (BBC spokeman on Breakfast TV responding to viewers questions about deteriorating reception) and since then I have been trying to find a remedy!

A friend of mine in the Traunstein region gets full Astra 2D with a Gibertini 1.25m without any problems. Some first tests on a Gregory Offset 90cm showed also good results as long as it wasn't raining. In Munich a well aligned 1m is enough otherwise all the german sat boards would be full of complaints.

Hi DeepBlueSky, and thanks for taking the time to respond. It turns out my dish is only 1m across by 1.15 high so I also plan to "upgrade" to a larger dish 120/125 dish.
Do you happen to know which LNB your friend in Traunstein is using?
    Thanks in advance,

It is a Platinum 0.2 but i will ask him as soon as possible to know for sure. Be aware that the same LNB model can differ in its performance. Often you have to try some to find the best for your needs. The sensitivity of your receiver is also quite important in fringe reception conditions. The f/D of the dish plays a role, and the data of the LNB play a role that is mostly theoretical. So the dish size and quality is the primary factor that gives you a better reception. In case of Astra 2D in your region be aware that the Horizontals are a little weaker than the Verticals.

    Hi tehre
normaly,in munich area,dr dish told, 45 cm technisat dish,is enough for the bbc,no special antenna size reqiered!
also testet with this size 300 km away from munich,at it works great!

also probier es aus,und du wirst sehen, das es funktioniert,für Schlechtwetter Reserve würde ich aber doch 80 Cm nehmen,es sei den du hast die Antenne, unter dem Balkon?

In Munich ? No Turok, that's impossible. Maybe in Cologne or Frankfurt but never in Munich.
