    Sky + additional viewing cards

I have a spare Sky+ box which I wish to take to spain and use it there with a Sky subscription viewing card and utilise the epg recording/schedule facilities.

We have an address in the UK which my son lives at and we have a HD box with a Sky subscription viewing card.

I phoned Sky and asked for a second viewing card and they said that I could have a second viewing card but only as multiroom. This is no good for me as I wont be able to connect the same telephone line to the Sky+ box in spain. I asked if I could have a new viewing card with a new subscription and they said that I couldn't have 2 seperate subscription cards for the same address. They did say that I could have a Sky freesat card and I asked if this could be activated as a Sky subscription card to which they said no.

Can anyone advise on how to get a Sky viewing card which I can subscribe to the footie channels and watch it in spain with the epg recording enabled on the Sky + box.

    Cheers
    Don....

I don't see why they won't supply a card at full subscription, especially as you have specifically asked for it.

I suggest you play them at their own game and get an extra multi-room card and get it paired with the $ly+ box. Now, you're supposed to have all the boxes connected to the phone line to get this cheaper priced card but you obviously won't be doing this. After a while they will contact you saying that if you don't connect them to the phone line they will have to charge a full subscription.

At this point you say OK, charge me. Result - Job done and you'll (hopefully) have had a few months of reduced price subscription for their stupid stubborness.

When they pair the card with $ly+ box, don't forget to make sure they activate the recording facilities.

But at least you'll get the difference in money in your pocket for that time.

And anyway, the point is to get the extra card isn't it?

I can't see how Sky will only allow for one subscription in one household. There are loads of people renting parts of a house and should be able to get a seperate subscription instead of a multiroom. Sky should only be happy to get the full subscription...

Anyhow, glad you got it sorted :-)

I believe that Ozzy Osbourne has a dozen or more Digiboxes and $ly+ boes at his English mansion. I can't see him faffing around with multi-room subscriptions - even assuming they can get over the problem of too many telephonic devices on a single telephone line.

    Hi all
how did you manage to get a second viewing card?
I'm having real problems, i am using a Family address in the UK that already has a Sky contract and am trying to get a second account from that address, for me to use in spain, no luck.
We obviously didnt let on it is for Spain and tried the usual explanations but with no luck.
    any advice would be appreciated.
    cheers

You'll struggle to get a second separate subscription at the same address. It used to be the case that you could get multiple subscriptions at the same address by clling them Flat 1, Flat 2, etc but I have a feeling that $ly are wise to this now.

The original question was that thewaver wanted a second card on the same account as the existing subscription at full price. The problem was that $ly wanted to give him a multi-room subscription, which obviously was no use to him.

He was able to eventually get what he wanted, an extra subscrition on the same account, and this is what you will have to do also. You will have to persuade whoever has the existing contract to get another, full price, card for you. If he already has a multi-room contract then I suspect that you're on a hiding to nothing.
