Hi all,

I'm trying to connect my 7025 to Ubuntu using Gftp but without success, I believe the username in Gftp should be root and the password dreambox, just keep getting a connection refused message. Can anybody suggest the problem.
Thanks.

Have you read the ftp guide in the Idiot's Guide?

You've put the correct IP address in your FTP program?

Have looked at the guide, am using the address as displayed on the box, I've also tried temporarily altering a few settings on my ftp software (individually and together).

Are using the correct port number, Usually 21?

Can you connect to the box with other apps? can you ping it from that machine?

Some detail on your network settings would help, maybe a screengrab or two.

I've just seen your avatar and I don't want to help you now...

:p

username in Gftp should be root and the password dreambox,

These are the default settings - have you changed them? Computer and Dreambox are on the same network?

Screengrabs of your Communication Setup (dreambox) and FTP connection (computer) would be useful.

Haven't tried other apps yet but I'm able to ping the box, here's a few screen shots that may help.

Can you start an ftp session at the command prompt and login that way?

Can you telnet onto the Dreambox (192.168.1.64)?

If the username and pwd are correct is the FTP daemon running on the Dreambox?

Hi mhku
(no offence taken by the way, I guess who is going to do better this season is for another forum, I'm a relative old timer when you could get in to a match for less than a quid )

I can't seem to get through from the command prompt but I can telnet, does this mean the daemon isn't running and if so what do I do to rectify the problem ?

There's a football section in the forum and there is also a Fantasy Football League.

If you can telnet onto the box with root/ dreambox then maybe FTP isn't working.

Have you tried FTPing using a web browser?

To check if ftpd is running:

Blue Panel > System Info > Process Info

and look for vsftpd

To restart vsftpd, start a telnet session and enter:

/etc/init.d/vsftpd restart

This assumes Enigma2 (7025) paths are the same as Enigma1 (7020).

Looks like the process is missing though there's a process called gdaemon, is that something different ?

Just use DCC (dreambox control centre) has everything you need in one app!:)

Easy to set up

Is that for Linux ? The package I can see looks like it's for Windows.

In the meantime I've executed the command to restart vsftpd and it seemed to suggest it's started ok but no process appears in the system process info section ( perhaps not surprisingly the box still isn't responding )

Thought I'd try remotely copying a file using the box IP address, being Unix to Unix thought it would be fairly easy. Managed it eventually after creating root password on the box.
