Getting a better LNB, or modifying a feedhorn, will not improve the signal that greatly. It is surprising how fast the signal strength drops when you are on the edge of a footprint.
You could find out exactly where your friend, in Egypt, is located and work out how much further, from the satellite footprint, you are.
I would also ask him what channels he's receiving and the signal quality, using his 1.8M dish.

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
The only beam that you may be able to get is on Astra 1M, and that is the 1M wide beam.

There are five satellites at the 19E location, him telling you that he can get 19E is not a full statement, find out what channels and transponders he is getting and on what satellite.

Here is a list of transponders and channels on the 19E 1M wide beam.

In that case he is lucky. Member solly in Israel has a 4.5m dish and doesnt get much signal off them.

Try it and see, but remember there are "hot and cold" spots in all fringe reception and received power can vary immensely over a few km let alone from one country to another.
