Arabsat 3A has had an eventful history. About 8 transponders were switched off on 7th December 2001 after the satellite suffered a drive failure in her solar sail arrays. This left her permanently low on power, so Arabsat leased the elderly PAS 5 (later renamed Badr-C) to take over the C-band services.
Badr-3 was moved to 30.5E in late 2008. No footprints have been published for the new slot, although coverage is likely to be similar to this map for 26E.
