That's interesting. So basically 2C will be a backup. Maybe 2A and E28A will remain until we get 2G then.

Sent from my GT-I9205 using Tapatalk

Is there any chance these moves could benefit UK viewers currently with weak reception? We have a wall of protected woodland whose summer leaves kill maybe half of all 28 degree channels for half the year.

BBC, ITV,C4 etc are usually strong enough to survive that in dry weather, and I read this may be due to their tight UK focus. Might the changes bring such field strength to any more channels?

(Apologies if this is slightly off topic - I didn't think it merited a thread of its own. Commiserations to all expats who've lost their TV service).

An increase in Signal Strength (if any - they don't have to transmit at full power and such things are closely managed with regard to the long-term viability of the craft) doesn't overcome the issue you have - the leaves destroy Signal Quality (coherence) causing irretrievable errors. And it is Signal Quality that really matters.

The only real solution is to re-site the dish or remove the obstructing foliage.

Until Monday the lowest signal about 17:00 GMT, since they placed the satellites (tuesday) and departed the Astra1N, the signal improved.
All the old installations ASTRA2D now have more signal without touching anything (logical).

Hasta el lunes la señal mas baja sobre las 17:00 GMT, desde que recolocaron los satelites (martes) y partio el Astra1N, la señal mejoro.

Triax 70cm , Sky hd in uk . CM 1.2 & 1 m at work various stbs for footy , 1.8m Prodelin in Mallorca and foxsat HDR

Signal from 2E is only slightly down on 2f . Last night and this morning strength was around 90% and Quality was 70 to 80 % with 2E being the lesser figure .
This is without any adjustment on my Prodelin 1.8m with a black ultra quad and Humax HDR.
Even on a cloudy day here quality didn't drop that much on 2F , I don't expect 2E to be much different, but today it's cloudless !
My location is Cala d'or in southeast Mallorca.

Might be a bit off topic :-
Have been streaming ( with spare lappy ) some of the lost uk psb channels on astra 2E uk spot beam until the snow melts and can access the dish again for tweaking.

Have streamed filmon ( even the filmon hd player ) bbc iplayer with free uk proxy, itv player with free uk proxy but have now found the most stabile even with low/rural broadband without any proxy.

http://schoener-fernsehen.com/

This site contains many live streaming channels and is german based.

Note when you click full screen option a pop up appears on the right of screen this disappears after 30 seconds.

If you install the ZenMate plugin into Chrome you can access the various UK players.

Drifting off, yes: I have a feeling we created a dedicated Section for IPTV.

I'll see if I can track it down, then we can get this Topic back to Astra 2E ;)

Ok, please stop the Off Topic stuff chaps

I'll get back to you when I've found the IPTV Forum!

Edit: Cheers, Ross - was also tracking down a link for someone else re: Russian TV in Spain.

The job's a good un.

Just a thought, if Scotland gain independence. Would the BBC lose license fees, if so could the beam be moved further South?
Could be good news for us on the fringe.

No, it won't change, it covers the whole of Ireland too right now. No doubt an independent Scotland could enjoy the BBC for free like Ireland.

Would that mean that Scotland (like Ireland) would have to encrypt their channels?

Surely, there are a lot more people in rest-UK than in Scotland, for which the Scottish channels wouldn't have the transmission rights?
