2E has got a nice surprise for you - a dedicated Middle Eastern beam. Should give you loads of Arabic channels we cant get here in western Europe! :D

Do I detect a more than detectable amount of tongue-in-cheek here AS?

Or they may not use this beam for DTH TV at all. I believe it will be used for broadband applications (sat internet, etc) mainly.

That is also a distinct possibility.

Although new Middle East TV capacity next door to 26E does raise some interesting possibilities

Almost everyone here speaks English and not Arabic. I prefer European channels even though mbc and others have great stuff.i also believe that the orbital position of 28,2 will not have anything new or Middle East and the dedicated beam will not be used at the end.

You seem to have forgotten the locals who presumably speak a lot of Greek from your location of Preveza

Now why why would SES spend millions designing & building something thast isnt used??

Thats a crazy idea. It'll be used for something. Sooner or later.

We will wait.i strongly believe that when someone says PANEUROPEAN at least he has to be precise and not leaving one quarter of Europe out and giving reception to the fishes at the Atlantic Ocean.from my location I have reception from the current birds from marginal (new birds) to very good (old birds,1n Europe) with my offset 1,25*1,40m.and the footprints from 2e says the same (I hope better),uk beam: only within my dreams

Pan European just means "not the UK beam"

The days of huge coverage continental beams in Europe are pretty much over - theres just too much demand for the limited orbital resources available.

@ Br 492

Forget discussing 28.2E on this forum, it`s UK biased though most active members live abroad.

Members please refrain from giving 2E reception reports ( as you did for Astra 2F ) for the maps that save SES Astra doing the leg work.

Just my opinion but this post might get deleted

Regards

Ps Had full lock on all Tps on Astra 2F to begin with but after they ( SES Astra ) started tweaking the uk spot beam no lock!

No most active members most certainly do not live abroad skomedal - its about 50/50.

All these fringe threads involve a bit of banter - thats always the way when theres nowt much to talk about.

If folk dont contribute to the reception reports then fair enough - thats up to them. It doesnt matter in the big scheme of things.

All points of view are welcome. If everyone thought the same the world would be a very boring place :)

Perhaps we should refer to the Pan-European beam as the "Central and Western European beam". Makes more sense considering it's real footprint.

TLE #19 of this morning, has Astra 2E near 43.2 East now, and arrival at 43.5 East remains this evening.

(I won't chase for test signals this time, one more month of scaffolding in front of the dish...)
