Basically, there is good news for everyone receiving UK Sky TV channels in the Canary Islands. The new Astra 2E satellite has been launched. It will take six to eight weeks for the satellite to be tested and moved to the orbital position used by Sky. It is expected to "light up" in the position around the beginning of December. After that many of the Sky channels which were lost earlier this year (when they moved to 1N pan-European which we DO NOT get here even on "big" dishes) are expected to be moved to the Pan-European beam of this satellite and will be received here on a 90 cm dish (this may include Channel 5 HD). Additionally, it is expected that the channels currently carried on Astra 2A North Beam will also move to the new beam (including ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD, most of the Sky Movie HD channels, UKTV+1 channels, Channel 4 Ireland and E4 Ireland) in the relatively near future. Of course there is always the possibility that some of the channels will move to 2E UK spot beam (more likely to be Channel 5 HD, the HD ITVs and possibly the Channel 4 Ireland family). In my opinion, history suggests that SKY and other non-PSB-FTA carriers on the Sky EPG actively avoid UK spot TPs for their channels.
