I'm like Irish Scandie above: I only want to get the Sky Sports channels really, anything else is a bonus.

I'm in Latvia, and until recently received all the Sky Sports channels perfectly - but suddenly I can't get anything at all on them. I believe this is to do with them all being moved onto Astra 2F? One report I read said that would be moving "soon" - has that happened?

If it has moved, does anyone have any suggestions how I can sstart getting Sky Sports again, please?!

Thanks!

You must use 110-140cm offset antenna.(140cm cost is about 100e)

Have you tried 11719,5 H sky sports hd 2; 11739 V sky sports 1 hd, sky sports hd 2. Also 11798 H is sky sports hd 1 and 12344 H sky sports 4. They are all on astra 2a, so you can pick up with 1,1 m dish in Latvia.

Those are actually receivable in Latvia, in my case near Riga easily on 90cm with >9dB

Just performed blindscan of 28,2*E, one new channel found on 12734 H 3/4 2964. There is no info on Lyngsat and KOS. Polish religious channel.
TRWAM.jpg

Edit: This 12734 H frequency is present on Lyngsat on Eutelsat 28A 28,47*E and I can feel it - to get maximum of signal I should move antenna 3-4 actuator steps towards E.

I suspect thats one of the Eutelsat feed frequencies. However an interesting catch.

There was an Italian channel on there a few weeks ago.- RTB

12207V and 12110H received with 90% signal and 100% quality in Nissedal, Telemark, Norway.
Philips 78cm dish, maximum 0,2db quad LNB, skyHD 1TB tuner, short cable run. Light cloud, - 2 degrees outside.

No joy on the UK beam from 2F here (BBC1 Wales HD, 4Seven, etc.). Will wait for 2E before deciding if a 120cm or 150cm will be sufficient.

12207V: No signal what so ever, not even a hint. 0.0dB.
12110H: Slight flicker of a couple of dB on the quality reading of the Dr HD F15 but no lock or picture.

In Helsinki, Finland with a 1.8m Aerial Oy quality prime focus dish, Invacom QDF-031 Quad LNB 0.3dB, Dr HD F15 / Pace 2600C1 / Sky DRX595 receivers.
Report from west of Tallinn. 2.4 M aerial, inverto lnb.
All 1N pan europe weak channels watchable at morning till 10 a clock Helsinki time using dreambox 800 pvr.
XORO 8500 FTA gives allmost one hour more watchable time, till 11.00. Everibody knows dreambox is not best choice for DX.
At the evening sometimes 22.00 starts fun time, sometimes even 23.00 no good picture.
At the moment 9 a clock Helsinki time all 1N pan europe weak chnnels watchable, but antenna has lot of snow on it.

It just shows how fast the signal fades the further north and east you go.

Hello, checked 5 & 5+1 tonight around 01.00 hour. Got 2F 10964 reception, around 45% level, 55% quality, just enough for stable pictures for an hour period before breaking up. Previously always been 100% nothing. No changes to my 28.2 dish\receiver setup. Any special atmospherics, or changes to the sat? Just curious. Thanks.

Update to the above post, 10964, testing 5 & 5+1, one hour of stable picture around 13.00. Seems like some 12 hour cycle these days. 90cm, 1N excellent.

Anyone with info on tolerable\good 2F reception in Norway? Minimum dish size?
Thanks.

Continuing my monologue. Ref. the 2 posts above, new check tonight.

att1 = my normal 24\24 1N reception, for reference.
att2 = my 'standard' 2F.
att3 = 2F 10964, OK for approx. 1 hour around 01.00 (and 13.00), outside these periods = nothing (see att2).

I can't give you local advice but I have found that Canal Digital receiver quite un-sensitive when I used to use one, so that isn't helping. Mind you, with so little signal even a sensitive receiver isn't going to give you 24/7 reception.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the CDC is not exactly top notch, but does a fine job for me on 1N & 19.2, and got some very practical features. Will of course get something else someday.

The 2F 12 hour saga continues here, stable pictures around 01.00 and 13.00 (ref. posts above), & fades away completely in between these times, clear skies all along, got no idea why it varies so much.

One way of putting it: with the variations experienced these days, the 90cm dish gives 0 to 45 % signal, what dish size could give 45 to 90 % ?

Thanks.

BTW:
It is well known that in 28*E position there are 3 birds; Eutelsat 28A @ 28,54*E , Astra2f @ 28,27E and Astra1N@ 28,18*E. And owners of relatively big antennas can feel this difference. In my case, if I tune my 1,8m antenna very precisely to Eutelsat 28A than I have quiet strong signal, but almost nothing from Astra2F. I can tune antenna to Astra2F but then signals from Eutelsat 28A are dropping considerably. If I tune antenna in the middle, than it is always compromise. I just thinking if in the future I install bigger antenna to try to get Astra1N than will have nothing from Eutelsat28A and Astra2F.

This is what the cluster at 28,(something) East looks like.
This was "shot from the hip" so unfortunately you can't read the serial
numbers on the satellites. Someone else might know "Who is Who".

28E.jpg

This is 26,o E as comparison, they are grouped much tighter.
The right one is probably 25,5 E.

(Both images are 1,25 degrees wide and shot two hours ago.)
