From the article above:

"Slack said that under current planning, which could change, the Proton rocket is scheduled to return to flight starting in late September or early October with back-to-back launches for the Russian government.

Once these two launches are completed, there likely will be room for two more Proton missions in 2014. He said ILS is likely to be assigned at least one of these, in which case it would launch the Astra 2G television satellite, owned by SES of Luxembourg."

Sounds like Astra 2G will be lucky to launch before November.

AM-6 is going to 80E, though, isn't it? AM-7 will be interesting at 40E - shame I can't see that location with the 1.5m Gibby.

Moscow. October 2nd. INTERFAX.RU -
With the help of Russian launch vehicles in October-December, is planned for 16 space launches from different launch sites, "Interfax" in the aerospace industry.
"Russian rockets until the end of the year will start another 16 times, including in October - four times in November - three times in December - nine times," - said the agency interlocutor.
He noted that at the same time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome space launches planned eight; from Plesetsk (Arkhangelsk Region) - six, with the launch base "Clear" (Orenburg region) - one starting from the Guiana Space Center (Kourou spaceport) - one pair to launch two European navigation satellites "Galileo" by a Russian carrier rocket "Soyuz -ST "and the upper stage" Fregat-M. "
It is expected that from Baikonur to the end of the year will be launched four rocket "Proton-M", which, in particular, need to launch a telecommunications satellite "Express-AM6" (October 21); European satellite Astra 2G (28 November); telecommunications satellite "Yamal-401" (December 12), as well as apparatus for military use.
In addition, in October-December is expected to start the nine rockets "Soyuz" from different launch sites. In particular, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 29 carrier rocket "Soyuz-2.1a" should be put into orbit cargo spacecraft "Progress M-25M". November 23, scheduled for launch manned spacecraft "Soyuz-TMA-15M". December 10 carrier rocket "Soyuz-2.1a" should be put into orbit remote sensing satellite "Resource-P." Fourth launch from Baikonur rocket "Soyuz" is done in the interests of the Defense Ministry.
From Plesetsk rocket "Soyuz" in October-December will start four times, including the November 23 - with a new generation of satellite navigation "Glonass-K", as well as three times - with military spacecraft.
The launch of "Soyuz-ST" from the Guiana Space Center is scheduled for December 18.
Start conversion rocket "Dnepr", created on the basis of an intercontinental ballistic missile RS-18 (in the West as "Satan"), is scheduled to launch base "Clear" on November 30th.

Correct , according to this report (Russian also) : http://minsvyaz.ru/ru/news/index.php?id_4=44555

But I'm not 100% sure that , this is the final decision .

Well, RSCC has already changed plans, Express AM6 after launch, gonna be fully operational at 53E.

Express AM22 or Sesat 2 (has been repeatedly reported malfunctions during operation of this spacecraft) will emigrate at 80E, to operate there until 2018, and if everything goes fine, she will be replace by "Express 80".
Othertwise will move for support "Express AM-33", which is currently at 96.5 ° East and is scheduled for replacement in early 2018.
Express AM7 (40.0° E) launch is scheduled for early 2015, and later of the next year launch is scheduled for Express AM8 (14° W) .

Theres not a chance in hell of the Russians getting 16 rockets into the air before the end of the year with all of their payloads safely into orbit.

I agree with Analoguesat I think 5 to 8 will be the most they will launch this year after the disasters of the last 12 months they need to get this right or loose a lot of customers.

Soooo assuming the Ruskies dont drop 2G onto the steppes of Kazakhstan at a few thousand mph we could see 2G in service end of February / early March.

It would be interesting to know what SES's backup plan is if something does go wrong, considering the age of 28A and 2A.

SES have nothing new in build at the moment for European locations, as far as I believe, but guess a candidate would be Astra 5A perhaps?
