As non of the West transponders I receive have migrated to Astra 5B atm we will hopefully see the signals increase if they move to the new high power beam.ASTRA-5B_hipowerbeam_ku_band_beam_M.jpg astra-1g_western_europe_ku_band_beam_L.jpg

Footprints:- top is 5B bottom is 1G.

The Magti Georgia transponders that were on the "impossible" 1G Eastern beam, must have switched to the 5B "High power Ku band beam". They are easy now: 11954H, 11973V, 12207H and 12266H.

Well I didn't predict that. At first glance the high power beam doesn't look like it would be that great for Georgia, but actually the eastern edge of Georgia is just inside the 51 contour, which is the same power level as the wide beam anyway, and is still pretty strong.

Alas all transponders are fully scrambled with a Bulgarian CAS -> CA_ID = 0x4AEE Deltacom Electronics OOD (according to Flysat "Bulcrypt")
Looking at the NIT we could expect 3 more transponders ;)

There are currently 2 threads about Astra 5B. How about merging them? ;)

Thread title needs changing to 31.5 Astra 5B & merge with this thread:
http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/threads/astra-5b-31-5e.160753/page-5

Gents, I've done that for you.

However, could you please use the "Report" button for requests of this nature as it is mere happenstance that a Staff Member might read a particular Post in a particular Topic, whereas a Report is flagged to us.

Looks like 11758H has switched to the 5B "Wide beam", just like 11817V.

Pro TV Int back on here so may have been weather related,

31.5 east
11934 V 30000
TM6900HD + 100cm 92% signal 54% quality

Only one transponder being received now.
11758 H 27500 was my strongest transponder now = no signal so it looks like it has moved to 5B wide beam as suggested in post #128

Don't forget at the very edge of the footprint the signal will no doubt vary as the satellites moves around in space so there will probably be particular times of the day when 5B is stronger. If it's anything like the Astra 2 satellites it'll be pretty predictable once you know the daily pattern.

Still just the one transponder here @ 54% Q

Only one transponder on the high beam in Multi Stream 12148 H
DVB-S2/8PSK ACM/VCM MPEG-4 27500 8/9

Non of my receivers can lock onto ACM/VCM:(

So until a normal transmission starts on the high beam I will not know if I will be able to get 31.5 east any more after 1G moves from here:eek:
