Agree with you guys! Angle-grinder and welding unit is not all I have in stock  Most importantly I have very good friends who can help me to do lots of things. Polar mount, even for 2,4m, cold easily be one of those things.

Add: I've sent an e-mail to seller, just to establish some contact

There is one dish for sale on German e-bay, it's back has exactly same strengths rib's pattern as dish I got some time ago. Seems that seller does not know exact name of it as well, he just mentioned it was used by UPS office. His mentioned dimensions of dish are exactly as mine (of course he has measured not working area but all together with ~15mm edges. He also fabricated nice INOX LNB holder. 220 EUR is nice price as well.

Not to mention the likes of DX-Bozoth. I think it's perfectly feasible to make your own mounting - as long as you apply common sense and over engineer.

That's a nice well made mount Trust, like you say everything is possible, bigger the dish bigger the steel you fetch from the builders market :).

Also nice to see the box section you've used on that looks the same as I am using for my 1.8 CM gives me confidence that its on top of the job :),

I've only got a few bits to finish on mine this is the stage I am at now,

TBH st1 that is all you need, but most of all you need the know how ;),
Indeed. And I must confess to sod-all knowledge of welding and grinding of metal
I can put together a Meccano-set of a mount, but it'd be a steep learning curve for building my own polar mount...

And have the equipment and (much more important) the experience required to make it right.
(although I'm sure it's fun to fiddle around with welding arcs and angle grinders and whatever else you guys utilise!)

There's your answer then for the 2.4 st1, if you can do it small its even easier to make it bigger just bolt it together :).

Everyone has to start somewhere, with "tinkering" comes knowledge! :) That's half the fun of it.

Someone's moniker on here is 'Trying is the First Step towards Failure'.

No I don't think so RB, he was saying, someone who's is making something is going to fail and a moniker is someone's name/nickname. I wonder who that is :D
