If you dont know Irn Bru its the Scots equivalent of cola - its bright orange, tastes like the effluent from a chemical factory after a particularly nasty spillage and is just generally foul.

And most Scots love it!

Hey, not just the Scots. When I used to drink sweet fizzy drinks it was one of my favourites. The other was (still is) dandelion and burdock.

Back in the 70s, it wasn't around for long, but I thought strawberry Cresta took some beating .....(It's frothy man!). And, on the subject of effluent, you obviously didn't come close to our chemical plant which made ammonia and nitric acid..... or then again! :-rofl2

Ah I do like D&B. I can get it in our local Tesco so a bottle falls into the trolley most weeks :)

When I lived in a colliery house in the mid 1950's Fentimans delivered to our door. Had dandelion and burdock, but my favourite was hop bitters in a stoneware flagon.......I tried Iron Brew once......just the once....

Its an acquired taste as to is Barrs Red Cola.

Other weird Scottish delicacies include, White Pudding, Red Pudding, Stovies, Aberdeen Butteries, Skirlie, Forar Bridies, Lorne (sqaure) sausage and deep fried battered cheese and tomato pizza :D

All worth trying and definitely surprising how good most of it tastes.
