Ok ..I am now the owner of a TM5302HD ..
But now comes the tricky bit ..fitting it into my already crowded system.
I have the latest Phantom Nov 2013 firmware in the box ...but how can I assign diseqc 1.2 V box positions already stored in my Vbox to the TM3502..or is this not possible ?
it can be done on the F15 by exporting to an NFedit editor ..modifying and importing back to the box ..
Also possible on a skybox F3 using the Ali editor ..
Is there an editor for the TM that does more than just channel shuffling ?
I need full control of ALL aspects of diseqc 1.0 1.1 1.2 and motors per satellite ?
In other words I dont want the TM to asign Vbox positions ..
These are already set ..so need to make the TM accept these already 'set' Vbox positions.

@william
I noticed on the TM forums of which you are an member ...there is mention of the Clarke Tech Editor Studio v3.18
Will this function with the TM5302 and allow modification of ALL motor and diseqc options of an exported TM file ?

Well I'm giving up for tonight ..
I've spent the last few hours trying to get the TM6302 to spit out a simple position command to the Gbox controlling Carl ..and no success at all ..
For Example ..
Position one on the Gbox is 61.5 west ...so all the TM hast to do is issue a diseqc 1.2 command >> goto position 1<<
No way to facilitate this from the TM menus ..
..and no way to edit this by exporting and modifying...
So for now ...I give up.

Stoopid I calls it.
I can do just this on any openbox through the menus ..
Or the F15 with NFedit
I can even do such a simple task on the AZ premium.
Not so with the TM.

Dont these boxes use the same ndf file? Just upload it to TM and it should be identical to the F15 settings

Also I remember CT editor being able to open and export various file formats... Though fairly confident that ndf will be what you need. Don't blame me if it breaks your box though!

Sadly no ..
NFedit opens F15 channel dump files ...file extension CNDF..
The TM box produces channel dump files extension TBN
These wont open with NFedit ..not even if I manually change the file extension..
So I suspect this box uses a proprietory format ..
The simple Channel editor provided by TM does open this ..but does not allow any modifying of the sat data other than simple channel juggling..
ie ..I believe this box is not like the other TM boxes

Very odd. Does CT editor open the TM file? Have you tried opening the file in a text editor and what it's like inside?

Simple answer ..No.
I'm beginning to wonder if all the sat data from the 5302 is even exported for modification.
Maybe this is why TM appear to have lost interest in the box ?
The way things are looking atm ..
Nice box ..but ill concieved in this regard.

So I'll try to explain why such a function is important ..
An empty 5302 and a new dish Vbox setup (also empty)
Your visible arc say 50 west to 50 east ..
You start from 50 west setting postions and scanning channels as you go from 50 west ..allowing the TM to store sat positions in the Vbox.
the TM will _hopefully_ increment and store each position in a linear mode.
Your next sat being at postion 2 ..then 3 etc
By the time you reach your easten limit ..say 50 positions are stored and all your channels ..
It took you 24 hours but it's finally done.
Next you hear of a new sat being launched to arrive in the middle of your visible arc.
It arrives and and you want to include it ?
If you COULD access and change sat postion data in the TM ..you could just add another position at 51 in the TM..
store this position MANUALLY in the Vbox
ok so it's not linear ..but at least you have it..
Alternatively ..you spend another 24 hours rescanning everything from 50 west to 50 east ..adding the new sat position as you go ..
Totally bloody stupid is the only way I can put it.
Full control IS paramount.

This isn't a problem if you use usals motors ..but Diseqc 1.2/Vbox it is

The TM5302HD uses the TBN file system as you have found out it has a very good blind scan but lacking in a few area's that the TM5402HD can perform & visa versa,

I would suggest using the TM5302HD as a slave receiver with no motor control & use another receiver to move the dish when a simple DiSEqC 1.3 USALS cannot be used on the TM5302HD,

The channel editor is very limited I have compiled several channel lists manually making use of all 65 satellite positions for 40 DTH satellites 18 Feed Hunting Satellites & 7 spare.

I agree William it has good blind scan but I'd hardly describe the lack of the ability to edit such a basic position function as a minor imperfection ..
It's MAJOR...and to have to use the box as a slave is pathetic..
I dont use usals diseqc 1.3 on big dishes..
My advice to anyone with vbox motor control ...
Do NOT buy this box....
unless they find a way to sort it.

hi VS I found the 5302HD box was very poor the 5402HD box was so much better, the tuner is much more sensitive and channels I got on the 5402 I could not get on the 5302 so I don't use it now.

Indeed ..I'm finding out the hard way that TM dropped a large Testicle when designing the 5302..
Just glad I purchased it second hand and didn't spend a fortune to find this out..

On the plus side ..I did need something to prop open the back door when I'm working outside on Carl and Christina

You can always re-sell it at little loss.

Thanks for the heads-up VS. It's a box I considered buying but looks like I won't bother since I have two V-Boxes to sync...which will be an even bigger pain.

And So ..I applied for membership at the TM support forum ..so that I could ask for help and explain why changes to the editor software or indeed firmware are needed and so important ..
that was an hour ago ..and still waiting for the confirmation email..
Perhaps I've upset someone and been blacklisted...
Perhaps the forum like the 5302 firmware is not functioning as expected..
we shall see..
doh!

What are the three most important things to remember when looking for a receiver with proper customisable aerial control?

  1. Enigma2
  2. Enigma2
  3. Enigma2

1) I knew you would say that Huevos ..and maybe you're right ..but not everyone likes Linux based boxes ...
2) The Vu series although good are much more expensive ..
3) saying I told you so is really not helpful in this situation..
