My Satellite Setup
Armature 90cm Triax Dish, Quad LNB, Sky Box
My Location
South of France
So I'm in the south of France with a 85cm Triax dish and Black ultra LNB pushing my luck with the signal, I'm trying to get every little boost i can without having to up the size of the dish due to the only realistic place it can be is on the roof.

So my question is would it improve my signal if only a little to switch from my sky box to another satellite receiver and am i still able to get BBC 1,2 ITV and channel 4.

Thanks in advance

Several small Dishes.

Well some boxes have more sensitive tuners than others, and it can make a difference in some cases.

Boxes with the "Sharp" Tuner seem to have a slight advantage.

But, in general, changes to Tuners and LNBs are insignificant as compared to the proper method of getting more signal >> A bigger dish.

I agree with Tivu regards the bigger dish, however recently experienced a 10% gain on a new receiver i bought

I bought a Humax HD Free receiver for 7w, on my vu solo 2 i was getting on average 55%, 65% - 70% on the Humax receiver with everything else the same as before

My Technomate F3/5 performs better than my old Humax foxsat hd did.
Got a 1.2m dish on the way from Poland though, trying to get enough signal so that we don't lose channels in the evening.

Totally agree with that. I would only add- using of proper LNB with proper feedhorn. Also, placing and adjusting LNB directly in the focal point (original antenna's feedarm not always ensuring it).

Sometimes receivers showing completely different percents. More proper way would be to check when those receivers lock minimal signal.

I would just assume that a new satellite receiver be it a newer model sky box or some type of Humax Freesat box would give me a small improvement.

With a Technomate type receiver are you able to receive Channel 4, BBC and ITV or are they encrypted?

I can receive the unencrypted c4,bbc1,2,3,4, and all itv and itv plus and during the day the HD channels.I don't have a sky card but if you do I think it can be used in the F3/5.

Bigger is always better in this biz but must say that the tm5302 and x2 premium have helped me out due to tuner sensitivity.
