Hi guys, with the release of CCcam 2.1.0 and all the associated responses, information is getting very fragmented. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread that at least attempts to keep all this information in one place. Firstly, using the march 10th driver update it's now possible to read NDS2 sly UK cards directly in CCcam. Here's the driver update. Thanks to Sonic1 for that link. I've tested that myself and it does work, however, my DM800 runs quite hot, and having the card in the internal reader the heat is transferred but I think this is ambient heat and not heat created by over cooking the actual chip on the card. Now, with the release of CCcam 2.1.0 there's news that the internal reader also now reads NDS3. However, there's one thing I'm a little concerned about. I read that the NDS3 cards operates at 3.3v and the internal reader of all dreamboxes is 5v. I would be very careful with this. There is also news that NDS3 works with CCcam 2.1.0 very well using the smargo smartreader. This supports the theory of the voltage being correct as the smargo does operate at 3.3v. Here's a config to use the smargo , I would be careful with clock speed too.
SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000 SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+ SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/usb/tts/0 3690000 # Smargo Supports 3.20, 3.43, 3.69, 4.00, 4.36, 4.80, 5.34, 6.00, 6.86, 8.00, 9.61, 12.0 and 16.0 MHz
Don't forget to enable FTDSIO module in Gemini image, or install drivers in blachhole images. With many users already using NDS3 on Sly IT and the rumours of card change for the UK, lets get a thread together to make sure we can all get what we want. Lets use this thread to report our findings and get a concrete and safe method of using NDS2/3.
