Motorized system mainly aiming @ 28.2/28.5E
Famaval 3.1m
Invacom quad

Pedro If you can not get UK spot beam In Portugal with 3.1 m dish that means that your dish Is not effective

Depends where you are in Portugal.
In the north 1.2m is enough for 24/7 reception all year.
The signal dies abruptly in the center of the country.
In Lisbon so far we were on a deep null.
I'm getting some signal now. But people in the close vicinity with 2.2m cab't even get a lock.

Something must have changed up there.
I never had a lock before in Lisbon and now I'm getting 2E uk beam. And this morning I could get a picture on channel 5 txponder on 2F for some time...

For sure something has changed in the last couple of months. I guess it could be atmospherics, transponder power or satellite position/orientation (or a combination of all three!!). Whatever the reason, here in Menorca, all channels on 2E & 2F UK spot beams are now much weaker. Most of the time I get either no lock or bad pixilation. :confused

Will venture onto the roof later today to make sure my installation is still optimised in az, el and skew and then try a new Goobay LNB. Not very hopeful but I might just be able to lift the signal levels above my Sky+ HD receiver threshold.

The dish must be too small. Probably on the periphery of the Barcelona null.

You're right about being on the periphery of the Barcelona null. However, up to a month or so ago, my new dish was receiving both UK spot beams 24/7, albeit there was little to no rain margin.
From what I've read in various threads, some fringe locations in Europe have seen an improvement in UK spot beam reception whilst others, like me, have seen a deterioration. It therefore looks as if the side lobes have shifted slightly but the question is, why??

Probably just seasonal house keeping. It may swing the other way in the spring.

Sun position. Signal SNR follows the seasons. My guess is the beam shifted a bit to the north now. But i might be mistaken.

Now in the evenings 2E is even stronger than 2F.
