Well a nice surprise for 2014: Downloaded Linux Mint 19 Petra, Cinnamon Edition 64bit and created a Live USB Stick, bunged it in the Acer Laptop and lo, the Video Driver bug is not present!

And, as all SWMBO's stuff is fully Backed-Up as of yesterday, I'm minded to replace Crunchbang entirely tomorrow.

I agree Paul it was my first video recorder and I still have some tapes full of recordings somewhere but alas when the mechanics of the loading system wore out and the head went I called it a day, but I remember the superb quality
