DM 528S freezes

Hi all,

My DB 528S freezes when I connect the lnb cable and the remote control does not work.
But when I disconnect the cable, turn off and on again I get access to pli-jade.
Any tip?

Yes.

Check the LNB cable and connectors for damage, especially water ingress and/or short circuit.

It's all too easy to create a short circuit when mating the F connector on the cable to the F socket on the Receiver (whisp of stray copper screen, bent centre conductor etc.).

It's too late, flashwizard got frozen while installing a new image.
Now I have one dead box.

You will need to jtag it.

Might aswell just get another one. The DM528 is a clone box made in China. DM500 internals & DM600 style case. They are cheap as chips. I've seen them go on ebay from £35 upwards.

The few I've had haven't been the best build quality in all honesty.

Disconnect the lnb and get a null modem cable (RS232).

Use Dreamup to try and recover the box before buying another. If that doesn't work, just bin it and buy another one. Its not worth Jtagging a clone 500s.

I see jtag for DM 500 that have points inside the box while mine is DM 528 and it has an external RS 232 connector.
Is it still possible to jtag my box using the external RS232. Does anyone know where to find more info?

I'll try it the null cable with DreamUp.

A dreambox DM528 is just a clone DM500. It has the same mainboard as the DM500, so will have the same jtag points.

Now my challenge as a newbie is to find a sat signal.

I forgot to say that the box was freezing due to short circuit in the connector.
