Blind Scan Speed Test :-
Test = Eutelsat 10A @ 10 east scanning 10.950 to 11.200

1st is the TM5402HD M3 in 8 MHz steps = 1 min 5 sec
TM5402HD M3 in 4 MHz steps = 1 min 55 sec

2nd = TM5402HD M1 in 8 MHz steps = 3 min 25 sec

3rd = TM5302HD in 8 MHz steps = 3 min 59 sec

AZBox P+ HD in 8 MHz steps = 6 min 5 sec

Due to the faster processor in the TM5402HD M3 (32 bit 550MHz, 8500 DMIPS) wins by a mile
when compared to the slower processor in the TM5402HD M1 (32 bit 450MHz)

TM5302HD with a 32 bit 266MHz even slower processor & the slow Sigma Jungle chip on the AZBox despite the claims this receiver is let down by an underpowered processor,

Conclusion The TM5402HD M3 is in a class of it's own with the much faster processor & the prospect of a 4:2:2 version in the future,

For finding feeds very quickly the TM5402HD M3 is the 1st choice now when it can find feeds with the Blind Scan 4 to 6 x faster than any other satellite receiver I have tested.

8500 DMIPS = (Dhyrstone Million Instructions Per Second).

If you know of another Blind Scan receiver with a faster processor please carry out the same test on 10 east to compare your findings to mine.

I did try 5 other brands but they were eliminated in the 1st round due to slow processors.

hmm, IMHO this is a wrong conclusion. It's the demodulator and it's firmware that is responsible for the blind scan.

This hope will be most probably disappointed like by all predecessors :D

I find my Vu+ Uno to be rather fast at blind scanning as well...

In fact.. just did it and it completed it in 1 min and 10 seconds with 14 channels found between those two frequencies.

Other receivers information gathered:-
DrHD D15 same as TM5402HD M3,
Blade7000s same as TM5402HD M1.
Spiderbox 9000HD same as TM5302HD.

Same speed & blind scan steps as tests in post#1.

Speaking of feeds... Cute looking Asian chick ... she sounds like a cartoon character, though! Thought they were speaking Mandarin but they scribbled something on a piece of paper and it looked Japanese.

Of course, the scan speed matters a lot when we compare the receivers,but equally important is whether one or the other finds more than another.I ask this, because I don't have tested a receiver from those checked by @William.Of course it is in this case about the tuner sensitivity.What is the most effective?
So the most important parameters for a receiver: speed and efficiency!And in this respect which of the tested meets these two conditions?In other words, the same eternal question for every feedhunter:which receiver is # 1?

Using OpenPLI 4.0 with a blind scan plugin from the feeds. I believe it's the same one that's included in OpenVIX image.

TM-F3/5 about same time. I took 1 min 9 sec / 1min 53 sec. It was nice surprise with this new stb to find out that Blind scan sure is snappy. And after f15 it is veeery relax to blindscan also C-band and find also <2800 symbol rate channels (not read about these from Lyngsat anymore:lol: )

Dream on William, that Technomate outfit will not introduce a 4:2:2 capable version of the TM5402 or any other model from their range.. Technomate are the masters of "non support" for their products despite what that chum boy Richard says.

A Technomate satellite receiver with 4:2:2 is a pipedream, in fact it is just pure shít.

Also that Dr HD D15 receiver has a habit of missing feeds and also it often sits there thinking for some time about it before it starts the scan. I tried plenty different images for it but none seem to cure the problem.

Thanks for that moonbase I set up a Dr HD D15 for a friend a while back as a Astra 19.2 & 28.2 twin feed set up for that very reason you mentioned "missing feeds" but I had forgot at the time of writing this,

As for the 4:2:2 receiver looking optimistic over 6 weeks have passed since this post:-
Attention of feed Hunters 06-04-2014 for 4:2:2 so looks like you are right on this one.

Unfortunately 10E is way off my arc. Fastest blind scanners for me is the dr hd d15 on an 8 step and the x2 premium.

Thats a fair conclusion although i would stick the TM F3/5, 5402 M3, CT 4100 all in the same basket as the D15 as they are all identical same internals made in the same Chinese factory, I have often seen the D15 firmware come out 2-3 days earlier than the TM based version and then Low and Behold the TM version arrives identical which means its the same software writers.

If you have an F15 or Blade 7000 or even 5402 M1 version keep a tight grip that lovely Korean made machine wipes the floor with the newer Chinese crap they seem to churn out.

As for the Blind Scan my F15 takes an age but when i pitted it with the 5402 M3 version on 7° west the M3 misse around 46 channels where as the F15 picked them up.

And as for the Picture quality on the M3,D15 dont get me started LOL

I have to agree with you I have just set up the TM6900HD Combo Super+ for a comparison to the TM5402HD M3 & yes the M3 does miss some transponders that the 6900 finds maybe something to do with the faster speed blind search of the M3 & the Korean build is superior to the Chinese build,

The picture quality of the M1 & TM6900HD Super+ is much better than the M3 & F3/5 using cheaper components even with all the added video controls the product is not as good as it could be with a better quality build & higher quality components but as the TM5402HD brand name is a big seller despite the Blind Scan 45,000 symbol rate error when a low symbol rate is in use in the M1,M2,DrHD D15,Blade7000s versions, (Never corrected by the way)

So TM decided to build the new TM5402HD M3 based on the old TM3000 hardware thus eliminating the 45,000 symbol rate error but introducing the new data base error with loads of transponders being added to the data base that are not active & do not exist :( Had this been 10 years ago we would have been very pleased as 90% of today's customers are with the new M3,

But enthusiasts like myself would not have to keep going back to the older better quality build of the TM6900HD ect if the new products were better & faster is not better if you do not have enough circuits to process the data correctly.

If only EchoStar would return to making top end motorised satellite receivers, bring back the AD3600IP with 4:2:2, HDMI, LAN port, editable channel lists via USB etc......

Now that is definitely a pipedream.

Yes at least the Japanese & Koreans built quality equipment unlike the current receivers from China :(
