Fortec Star Updating delay on switch on

I have the original Fortec Star Passion.
When you switch on at the receiver, there is a delay before it starts to show channels.

First you get the
Fortec Star HD screen

Then a clock screen with the following message.

Updating Data...
this process may take up to 2 minutes
Skipping this process may mean your receiver is not fully up to date

You get option to press.
red button to skip

This does not happen if you switch off and on with the remote.

Should it always do this?
Any harm in terminating the update?

Yes this is now normal behaviour when switching on the unit. Older versions of the firmware didn’t do this, I think it was introduced with version 203 but I’ve updated so many version I can remember exactly LOL.

I did complain on the forums about this problem as using the old versions if you had a power cut the unit would power back up in standby mode but when this ‘feature’ was introduced the unit powers up in channel mode with the last channel you selected displayed, not very power friendly.

Once you have done the full update once yes you can press the red button to bypass the delay if you wish.

Be warned if you update to the latest version 127 of the firmware the EPG will stop working after a time for some as yet unknown reason.

Well glad its not just me then.

Latest Firmware for PASSION HD is av143? Which I have.
I just checked and I no longer have EPG? :mad:
