yes- tried again and interrupted the update screen- to no avail. It even knocked out BBC HD and certainly no sign of the long lost BBC1HD which I haven't had on my screen for months.

Cancel the update screen or you'll lose your new channel list.
The '2 minute update' is actually only updating the EPG as far as I am aware, and definitely not affecting the channel list.

main reason for asking is that it appears to upload into the box, "burn" etc, and the STB restarts- and does the "two minute update"- and then the channel list is the same as before.....

The '2 minute update' only appears after a 'Factory Reset', not after a channel list update, so have you done a Factory Reset afterwards as well ?
Also, have you by any chance done a USB Write at some point and overwritten my Channel List file. Look at the file on the USB stick via a PC, if there is no date against it, then that has been written by the P+ and therefore only holds your original channels?

So lets try and resolve this - Firstly, is your P+ up to date with Loader (v1.5) and Firmware (v1.30). If not, update those first and then do a Factory Reset before updating the channel list. It might be worth doing a Factory Reset anyway, just to clear out any possible gremlins that are lurking in there. After a Reset, amend any System Settings accordingly ie video, time etc. Also I recommend UK 7day EPG is set to ON, and Logical Channel Number/Automatic Channel Rename/Power Search Mode set to OFF

Next, do the channel list update. I always do it via the Menu rather than as a 'cold reboot' process (ie power on with the USB stick inserted, and use panel buttons to update)
I have attached some instructions for updating the channel list via the Menu. Do NOT do a Factory Reset after this process ! There should NOT be a '2 Minute update' message after reboot.
I also update Loader and Firmware this way as well, but by selecting System Update rather than Channel Data Transfer

That makes sense Brian. I'm a little rusty with the Passion these days. Sorry jayartibee for any false hopes :-doh2

Thanks Brian for your time and efforts.

I, too, wondered whether I'd done a write instead of a read and I had- but still have had no luck.

I've done many factory resets in the last two days. I'll stop now!

Will try again tonight.

All the best

worked at last. It was selecting the system update file as the channel list file. Doh!
All working except BBC News which stopped working last week. This is a shame.

Brian's channel list still has it on 10773H. It's now on 10803H SR22000 FEC 5/6.

Just update with the new parameters (after deleting the old BBC News frequency).

You can rename it yourself. Choose the channel, press Green button and rename with the onscreen alphanumeric keyboard.

Sorry, forgot to update my channel list in the Sticky with the recent BBC changes.

I have just done so, and it includes BBC News/Alba/Parliament, and the more recent move(+reduction from 7) of the 5 BBC interactive channels

PS glad you got it working

BBC News was never renamed ETV1 - that was a glitch on your receiver

Brilliant, Brian. I noticed that the BBCi streams were blank- not even those voices saying "THREE AUDIO ONE" and so one!

Is the Ch list in the Sticky now up-to-date?

Yup - although it isn't a glitch, but a programmed response. I alluded to it some days ago (Post #48), in the hope that the penny would drop, but it seems to have passed unnoticed: This happens with some Receivers when a "new" Channel carries an identical label to one already stored - The Rx is not so clever as to know to delete the existing one, so simply ascribes it's own "default" name. I've had a couple of Receivers which use ETVx for that purpose.

Nothing to do with the BBC at all!

BBC do in fact broadcast these additional channels. I dont know why they do, probably just placeholders, but the PIDs usually point to another existing valid BBC channel.

10773H - BBC TES3 points to BBC3/CBBC
10788V - ETV5 points to BBC1 WM
10803H - ETV1 points to BBC News
10803H - ETV2 points to BBC1 Scotland
10818V - ETV6 points to BBC1 South

ITV also do something similar with G49, G53 and G54 on various TPs.

So generic boxes will pick these channels up as they are a FTA transmission.

Yes, I suspect you are right ............. thinking back some years to when I came across them.

Placeholders.

I'll give you that one, Brian :)
