Hi guys,

Up until BBC, Channel 4, ITV switched over to the Astra 2e i was comfortably using a 90cm Triax Dish with a unbranded Quad LNB and standard sky boxes.

Once they switched over to Astra 2e we were right on the limit of being able to receive signal and it would work well except for in rain, I have since learned the signal can fluctuate and subsequently have recently lost all channels expect for NI BBC and a regional ITV.

I thought if i would upgrade my LNB to something designed for fringe reception i would be able to get that little extra signal strength i needed, i quickly searched for good LNB's and saw 'Black Ultra Inverto Quattro HGLN 40mm LNB' and purchased it.

Tried to install it today and showed on one of my sky boxes Full Signal and Full quality any the system signal test but the channels were still not working and on the other 2 boxes no signal, no strength.

The 4 outputs appear to be different, V/L ... V/H ... H/H ... H/L, i don't know what this means but i gather it's not 4 of the same outputs.

So what I'm asking is, Is this LNB compatible and if not what would be the best option for me when a bigger dish is not really an option right now as it has to go on my chimney to avoid trees.

Please excuse any ignorance in this post and i would appreciate any help you can provide.

You have bought a quattro lnb - you need a quad.

Quattros are only for use with multi switches for big distribution projects

I've just been up to the roof and fitted my new LNB and we're now able to receive all FTA sky channels with a sky digibox, 85cm Triax Dish and Black Ultra Quad LNB with no issues from the South of France, 10min from Mirepoix.

Rain may be another hurdle but i'm happy as it is for now, Thanks for your help again.

Thanks for your report back that you have a working system in good weather. I'd be really interested to know how well it works in poor weather. We have a place in the south & need to know what size dish to upgrade to.

Good work. Yes, rain will be a good test of your signal - let us know as 85cm is getting on for being a bit small down there now.

What will you do with the Quattro? Can you return it for a refund?

Whereabouts in the South? Size needed can change a lot at the fringes of reception.

I got the Quattro from Amazon.fr and with prime it was free to return so no issues.

It's far from consistent, we had it fine for a while then had a few days without channel 4 and had to use the regional ITV's and BBC's
