One of the lads at work has a Pi with RaspBMC installed and loves it

It (sort of) does what he wants, 1channel/primewire, live sports (when it works) and he is well pleased with it

I was thinking about getting one to experiment with SickBeard and create an NAS or find a way to plumb my CCTV into it but need to convince SWMBO that we really do need another box under the TV, looking at that pic above has given me an idea to hide it though, I could attach it to the back of the TV with sticky backed Velcro :-rofl2

I remember reading somewhere that you can build a radio using a Pi which would be rather cool

You could use one or two of the holes for wall mounting brackets rather than sticky tape.

The only issue can be during say for instance on a Saturday night when 'tinternet gets busy and then trying to watch a tv channel(very popular ones you know where im going), access can take time. maybe you could build a radio but with openelec xbmc thousands of radio stations are available.

I'd read that you could turn them into a HF/SW radio with a bit of tinkering and an add-on here or there

How many screens can they output too at once? The more I think about the Pi the more I see a video server/jukebox

I cant answer about the hf/sw bit, youre probably right though. They have a composite video output i think , i use the hdmi connection, i have no idea if they simultaneously send video down each output. I use mine for tv shows, movies and music. The tv shows and movies are on a 2tb hard drive and the music is on a separate 1.5 tb hard drive.

OK, just thought i'd update the position on the Youview boxes, I purchased one last week off ebay and they work fine without a subscription

The Talk Talk boxes work fine for all the On Demand services including the UK TV on demand channels like Dave and Really and also Now TV from Sky

The Talk Talk boxes are Huawei branded boxes which work fairly well. There are three types from what i can find out.

The models are the DN360T, DN370T and the DN372T. You can add recordings from your smart phone on the DN370T and DN372T boxes. The DN360T does not have a HDD so don't get caught out with one of those, although they are fine for the on demand stuff. The DN360T is packed in a white box, where the others are packed in a black box so even if a seller on ebay doesn't state which box it is you can still identify which is which.

I have the Talk Talk branded Huawei DN370T which has a 320GB HDD installed. Upon installation it had Talk Talk branding in the menus, however after connecting to my BT router it promptly stated there was an update. After the update it is now showing BT branding???

Definitely worth the money if you can get one for less than £50. Just got to figure out what to do with the BT Vision box i have now which won't boot as its been de-activated by BT. I don't think you can even use the HDDs in them as they are password protected.

I've been surprised just how good Plex is on the Now TV, does everything I wanted for it.

Apparently its on the Drives firmware. It is a Seagate Pipeline drive.

From what i have read if you install another drive into the receiver it locks that too.
