Another hump/signal just beyond my reach in Ka band A
occasionally peaks at 3db ..but not enough for a lock.
Using Ocko as my yardstick ..4db is minimum limit for lock.
Ohhh for a 1.5m Gibby.

Does this come from 19.2 East?

"Ka-band A", where does this subdivision come from, do you have a complete table of this?

Yes it is from 19.2East ..
and since the Norsat Ka band lnbs divide up Ka in this way ..I like to refer to the 4 bands in the same format.
So Ka band A is the lowest of the 4.

18200 > 19200 ghz

I use the attached chart I made for reference..

Thanks, yes I just went through different Norsat spec sheets, and found about these 4 bands with limits at X.2 GHz, but not always!
In the ITU radio regulations, and in practical use by satellites, some slighty different ranges emerge:
18.3...19.3 GHz, 19.3...20.2 GHz, 20.2...21.2 GHz, and 21.2...22.0 GHz.
Also 17.7...18.3 GHz is used by some satellites.

I wonder Who uses this range ..and what lnbs are available ?
Curious as ever..

Hylas 1, Badr 5, Arabsat 5A, and the new Amos 4 might use 17.7...18.3 MHz.
At least that's what their specs say.

Very low signal VS ( 3.2 dB ) but I can lock it.

That's with the Norsat 9000A on the Triax TD88.

is there any technical reason why norsat or inverto even cant make a full Ka band lnb encompassing the 4 sub-bands at say 200 euro,s for the norsat WR75/C120 and 50 euro,s for the inverto lnbf? as even at a limited run of 10000 for inverto once word got around the enthusiast communities they would sell eventually

Cheers Llew ..
So close ...but Your Eastern location came up trumps again I think..
Chances are I'd have locked it myself ..if the SL3 had been at the focus ..I estimate I'm losing between 0.5 and 1db due to the offset location.
..and of course ..I need a bigger dish to compensate me for being further west.

Nonetheless ..thanks for confirming what I suspected it was.
Teleippica.
;)
@gibertini ..
I wish such a thing _did_ exist ..and maybe one day it will ..but for now we just have to buy expensive lnbs ..or get busy with the hacksaw and files.

Nice catch Llew ..
Sorry for the late reply.
I've had Nag overspill in this same location in the past ..
Still have it logged in the F15 as 'Pisa'

OK, first time I've seen the 'added extra' TP there.

Been checking 4.8E over a few days, dead as a Dodo for feeds now. It was active during the Pistorious trial a while ago, but nothing active now, although I suppose it needs to be checked more regularly.

Quick question for you Llew ..
Do you have easy access to your 9000AF ?
..and can you tell me the LO frequency..
It would save me getting the ladders out and getting the info off the lnb body..(lnb at height currently)
Or just guessing..
cheers

Thanks for the LO frequency Llew..
Not that it made much difference..
Was trying to put the 9000A into some sort of service instead of sitting on a shelf..
Now fitted on Harry ..
the 60cm Faval ..
Nag feed ok ..at 9db ...but can't lock Ocko ..
But then Ocko wont lock on the 1.5 either (SL3) atm ..
Lowest I've seen it signal wise for some time..
You might be interested in trying ITN newsnet which is currently the strongest I've locked it on the SL3 (Carl)..
12.5db occasionally 13 ..
You may well get a lock at this level using the 9000A manually rotated of course.
cheers

I do occasionally lock that one VS, but not at present. Certainly strong now at >9dB, but no lock. That's on the Triax TD110. Also tried on the TD88 and Gibby, same result.

When it has locked, I got no PIDs up in TSReader, so no video.
