I have spent a lot of time over the years trying to get the elevation on my dishes as I want it.Nine times out of ten it ends up worse than it was before.I was getting to be quite an expert getting my Triax right.Even with the Orbital getting it spot on takes some doing. sometimes.I can get it spot on with a transponder. The dish jerks up and down. Then tightening the nut can wind the elevation down a little.
A while ogo I thought of a gadget that may help.Fasten a turnbuckle to to motor pole and the dish below the AZ bracket.Turn the buckle one way and the elevation will go up or down.It would at least stop the elevation lowering when tightening the fastening nut.Well in theory anyway.:)
So on sunday I decieded to try it.Being sunday I could not get a turnbuckle,so I made one.It is a tube with a nut welded in one end a nut that can swivel in the other end.I ended up with half a turnbuckle only the bolt at one end screws in or out:)
.Painted it fitted it ,it works.Screw the tube one way the elevation rises, the other it falls.
I know that It is a bit over the top but It keeps me busy.:)

That's very enterprising - and a huge advance on my matchstick wedge method!

Neat idea, you don't need the full clamp around the motor trunk though, which would save a couple of minutes when installing.

As do some other manufacturers, but a single offset bolt/locking nut is not an ideal solution, especially when setting up a motorised system.

This wont work well on a triax dish will it? I'd modify mine if it did.

Not if you have this type of elevation adjustment .

For the test with my rotating laserpointer in the lnb holder to find the optimal position for the lnb , it was nessecary to have the most fine elevation adjustment .

triax,s method is shocking as it moves laterally when ajusting... ive found a simple up-down like on the orbital but with locking nuts is easier. the andrew/cm is the best ive seen with the threaded rod

The Triax's are easier to adjust if you support the dish weight with one hand right at bottom-dead-centre of the rim. Anywhere else and it's a nightmare.

Three hands would be useful and it was only after several relocations of my own TD110 that I happened upon a technique which does not cause jamming or lateral movement.

Just a shame about all the wasted effort on previous incarnations!
