nokia mediamaster 9800s software lost

Hi

I am user of Nokia 9800s more than 11 years

two days ago the software na2.0 was vanished ( i was watching sat)
Now when is plug it : test then NA2.0 > 9800 >A2.0

That is this and how can I repare it ?
whare can I get the the software ?

11 years is an outstanding lifetime for a Receiver - are you sure there is any value in trying to restore it as opposed to replacing it entirely?

If its gone wrong whilst you were watching tv the receiver has probably gone faulty. As my esteemed colleague says its probably not worth fixing.

Reading the manual for my 9800S (handily kept with my 9800S in storage), the only suggestion offered there is to "Try downloading new software into the Mediamaster", which I guess translates to, try and reflash the box...

I think that might be tough as many of the files are probably lost now (unless they were uploaded to the forum?), and if memory serves, you need a computer with a serial port running Windows95 or 98(SE), a Null Modem cable, and the flashing software & firmware, but that would require accessing the menus to enable it to download the firmware...

I'd say it might just be a case of letting it go, the 9800S is quite old now, and there are faster boxes available for very little these days, so may be worth investing in something more up to date...

Could also be a failing power supply, but that's just a random guess...

I used the link to download the firmware from this forum: Serial download and the files SysSW_VA10.dl.
After the connection with comuper via data cable (Windows 7) no ext unit found by computer and the serial download server (the ikon) can not initializing > " access violation at adresses 0043D997. Write of adresses 013A800"
The mediamaster after pugging starts with "test" > NA2.0 ( sec) > A2.0 > 98000 > 8005

If I press power button during pugging the unit shows " --:--"
If I press the up ad down buttons the unit shows " FR --"
I can not use remout but I see the point in the display and from --:-- it is going to NA 2.0 >>>

What can I do ?

You can forget re-flashing the box with any new computer - you will need one with a serial port - which means an old computer.

You might get lucky with a usb - serial adapter but its hit and miss with them.

Give up with it - spend a few € and buy a newer better box.

May be you are right, I have Nokia Positioner, Nokia Analog and now dead Nokia Mediamaster = it is hard to change all at once!
Someone adviced to me to buy Samsung UE 60 D8000 ( it has Satellite tuner?)
do you have experience with this tuner?

The Nokia analogue box will be going in the scrap bins next April, (unless you use it for 5W in which case its got just over a month left)

The Samsung UE 60 D8000 appears to be a tv.

For set top boxes have a look at the Technomate range - they are well regarded.
