Hi guy's. I have Freesat 4k Recorder 2T which is all set up and working perfectly. On a few occasions on starting the home screen is pink. I have had to reboot to clear the problem. I can't find in the search if this is a known issue. Any thoughts on this please?

Try swopping the ends of the HDMI cable if it is not built into the wall.

Thanks for your response Channel Hopper. That's an easy work around, hope it will work.

Well, the last 2 days, have been getting green screens, but when looking at videos on YouTube. Then I was getting black screen intermittently. I decided to be swap out the hdmi look leads for some new braided ones. Problem solved now!!

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Glad the problem is solved but it does highlight that faulty HDMI cables can be hard to diagnose .

FWIW, there are HDMI cable testers like this one I bought several years ago (no longer available from Amazon but probably from somewhere else &/or a different brand or model number). Hardy worthwhile for one HDMI cable problem, but could be useful if you have/need many such cables.

In fact you might find that you have more potentially faulty HDMI cables than you think! I tested most of mine after I got that device, and then any new ones I bought, and found a few quite a number that had open-circuit connections (even when newly bought!) and even though they seemed to work "OK" at first glance!

Thank you Jeallen01, it's interesting what you have said. Considering that the HDMI leads spend the majority of their lives just plugged in and not moving, it's odd that they fail?

They’ll pass muster on cheap home appliances like DVD players etc but when it comes to higher spec electronics they play havoc. As we all know at this stage all HDMI cables are not created equally. You get what you pay for with HDMI cables.

No need to pay more than £10 for a short HDMI cable that'll work all the way up to 8K. Due to the signals being digital as long as the cable works there is no benefit in buying a more expensive one.

Connections can and do slowly suffer surface corrosion - especially if they are never moved!

Some 'gold connector' tipped cables are nothing of the sort.

Gold is also a colour.

I have replaced my HDMI leads with new. So, far I have had a good result. However I have identified a new issue. If I use the Freesat YouTube app I have had the screen go green and lock up the box. Only resolved by unplugging the box and rebooting. It seems to happen when using the "back" button to get out of a video that I have been watching.

That sounds like a software problem. There maybe an option somewhere in the menus to refresh apps or to clear cache/data. Other than that I'd contact Freesat support and see what they have to say. I do remember an issue with these boxes where Netflix would only work in 1080p and not 4K, might be worth trying that.

Thank you for your response ozumo, I will try your suggestions. I am beginning to feel that the Freesat 4K boxes are full of problems?

Problems were reported when they first came out but we haven't had many on here recently.
