This is what i have done so far.
Concreted the bolts for my DIY ground stand last weekend and now has to harden for a week.
Material for the stand is :
Angle iron 60x60x6mm
Tube 89mm 4mm thickness 1400mm high
Weldingnuts is M10
Ground bolts M20 75cm long
The centerpole is 76mm and concreted 80cm down in the ground.
All holes has reinforcing bars in the concrete.
The stand can also be used with 50-76mm tube , that's why i have welding all the M10 nuts on the tube.

Looks very solid. I take it this is for a polar mount and actuator?

BTW, is that rhubarb growing behind the mount??

Looks like you've dug down pretty deep; should be rock solid... Nice job.

Yep it will be with Polar Mount and a 24" QARL actuator, and you are correct it's rhubarb.:)

Yes i hope it's deep enough 75cm. Had some luck with one of the holes , just missed a water duct.
The stand is very solid.

I'll be interested to see what you can catch with a 1.8M Laminas. Totally off topic, but you've made me long for my Mum's rhubarb pie and custard LOL.

Oh yes it's so nice, but in sweden we prefer vanilla sauce to rhubarb pie.

No not by trade, but have done some welding in my last job, have been repairing crashed SAAB and Volvo for 25 years, but no longer.
So i had to find my welding skills again..

I used my eyes, belive it or not. I just took a good look before welding and thought it was ok. Did all cutting , welding and painting at my work .After that i took it home and mounted the dish and did a fairly correct adjustment of the declination and elevation just for testing, and at full east i had a clarence between disc and supportleg of 5mm and full west 15mm....:-worship... lucky again
Zero for me is nearly 13e.
As i can fasten a 50mm tube inside the ground stand 89mm tube i put up a small 80cm dish first so i could find 13e .I centrated the small dish on the stand and after that i twisted the whole ground stand for best signal. And when best signal was fund there was the correct spot for the "zero" point.

Same size at supportleg 60x60x6mm

It's a bigger dish. For me the difference between my 1.5m and my 1.8m dishes is about 8% SNR on the Vu+ Duo. That's huge on fringe satellites.

Hakon, how much of the arc has that satellite dish got clear view of? And what does the missus think about it in the middle of the lawn?

How about some proper measurement examples.

Well just a quick example: 28ºE 10847 V 22000 5/6, using the Satlook Color HD.
Gibertini 1.5m, Black Ultra: 8.0dB MER
Famaval 1.8m, Invacom C120: 9.2dB MER

The Polar Mount is made by Laminas and can not be compared with the one Hollex has for AS 1500.
Chosed the Laminas as i got it to a fair price, and i need the size to catch Astra 2d.

I can catch 60e - 30w , but i have som trees that are making fun of my project.
But my neighbor are willing to lower the height on the one that disturbs the signal for 28e , the rest is in my garden and will be "modified" :p.

The dish is located in a sheltered place in my garden and will not disturb anyone.
If there will be complains on the dish i will put it up on my roof where the Lami 120cm are located.

Also will make som test if it works with C-Band in my location , got the LNB and the offset feedhorn from USA, (WS International)

But right now i have to spend some time on my sommerlove so she can come in to the water.

So, the boat in water, and some time spend on my Lami project.
Made all adjustment for the stand as the concrete has hardend for a week now.
I have also put in a longer 3" tube in the ground stand for testing if it gives the dish a better arc. Raising is 25cm.

Correct, but the birch will bee reduced to the autumn. Can't do it now as it will "bleed" to death.
Got an idea of mounting a laser pointer on the feedarm in correct angle ,and in the evening i can see where the arc is.
And if i get a very strong laser it will clear the arc :confused

I will (when the dish is mounted) test if my DIY declination adjusment will work better than the original.

You don't need to do that. An easy way is just a piece of 15mm tube (about 30cm long) taped on the side of the LNB arm. Send the dish to exactly due south, and then using your digital level set the elevation of the tube so it corresponds with the elevation of your due south satellite. Now all you have to do is look through the tube (without poking yourself in the eye), and whatever you see through the tube is exactly where the dish is pointing.

In the end I took mine off because once you realise where the dish is pointing you can use the LNB as a reference.
