My mate has finally given up on S-y but wants to be able to record F1 so he's in the market for a suitable receiver etc. My satellite receiver is a DrHD D15 which was quite popular when I got mine but I've seen a few disparaging remarks about them since and at £130 + the cost of a hard drive I'm wary of recommending it to a novice. I see Humax Freesat PVRs are not too bad on price but are they sufficiently user friendly in non-Freesat mode?

I know this is very subjective but what would you recommend?

Thanks

I just connect my receiver to my DVD recorder, via a scart lead, and record using that, set to AV, on the tuner.

The Technomate 5402 HD M2 CI Super+ is a good easy to use receiver, just plug a portable hard drive or USB stick into it to record.

it is possible record only RTL SD.
RTL HD with CI+ (HD+) module is not possible to record at all.

Thanks for the pointer. SD is better than 'No F1' :)
